Gombe Stream is the smallest park in Tanzania, but it's also the park where Jane Goodall did her inspiring research with chimpanzees. At this park, with some determination, you can see the chimpanzees with a walking-tour guide. Once you find them (often, you have to walk from half an hour, or maybe up to four hours, to reach where the chimps are each day), you can sit and watch them until it's time to leave. These pictures show just how amazingly close you can get--and just how expressive chimps are! I would love to be able to go here in person. If you go, though, be sure to check out some tips from previous travelers on how to get to this location for the best price, and how to have the best experience!
