San Francisco Pier 39

Pier 39 is one of signature places in San Francisco. Herds of sea lions will greet you. And on sunny days, white boats will float around the bay. If the weather is fine, try the cruise to the ocean and go under the world famous Gold Gate Bridge or the notorious Alcatraz. Pier 39 is great place to shop handicrafts. Shops are great and foods are excellent!

Thursday Is Donut Day!
To celebrate the incredible progress of my plastic surgery journey, which you can read all about here, I decided to call a couple friends of mine to join me for donuts this morning. WHY? Because LA donuts from random mom and pop shops are the best, and can turn any post-op rhinoplasty into something called bliss! @Butterflyblu knows all about these dreamy eats in and around LA. This time, however, I wanted to venture out to a different donut shop. One that I'd never been too. And this is what happened: Kettle Glazed! Coming from the Valley, take the 101 S. to Vine street and go East, which turns into Franklin. Just passed Argyle. If you hit Gower, you've gone too far! Turn around! I know, parking is hit or miss, but if you have to park further than you like, imagine all the calories you'll be burning, which will make diving into these nuggets of sweet heaven all the more decadent! Their Cronut is A REVELATION OF ALL THAT IS RIGHT AND GOOD. Don't skip this!!!!!!! I think this is my new hotspot for donuts. For realz. If you live in LA, and you've never been here before--VINGLE ME! LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you ladies care to join me for some donuts here sometime?! :) it's not a date, just a time to chill... @jordanhamilton @kaminisingh @alywoah @TessStevens @ChelseaHeyes @QueenYuki @KyotieWolf @kristenadams @Donnas @stargaze @flymetothemoon @ImUrBestFriend @galinda @Bekka @RaquelArredondo @jazziejazz @rmayra1 @prgurl4u2envy @DemiP @alannasofia @danidee @daniachicago @simplysam12 @TAIJIOTTER
How to Change Seat on American Airlines
When you book a flight, one of the first things you're asked to do is choose your seat. But how do you know which seat is right for you? When traveling on a basic economy fare, you'll be assigned a seat at check-in or at the gate. The main cabin requires you to pay for advanced seat assignments or to do it for free at check-in 48 hours before departure on domestic flights or 24 hours before departure on international flights. But if you're in the mood to get your preferred seat when booking your ticket, here's what you need to know about the different options. There are a few points to Change Seat on American Airlines will depend on two different criteria. The class of service you purchased Your status with American Airlines. If you have no status with the airline: If you have purchased First or Business class tickets, you can change your seat to any other seat within this cabin by visiting AA.com and entering your ticket locater and name. If you’ve purchased a regular economy ticket (not a Basic Economy), you will be able to select from seats located in the rear of the aircraft. Or, you can purchase an upgrade to a seat up front (reserved for those with status) or to one that includes extra legroom (Main Cabin Extra). If you purchase a Basic Economy ticket, you will not be able to choose your seat. You’ll typically receive your seat assignment at check-in or at the gate. If you have Gold status and purchase a regular economy ticket, you’ll be able to sit in the priority section of economy on your flight (but not Main Cabin Extra). If you want access to the Main Cabin Extra seats, you’ll get a 50% discount, but only if there is space available 24 hours before departure. If you have status as Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Platinum Exec (50k to 100k miles a year and $6k to $12k spend), you get free access to any upfront economy seats and MCE seats. Basic economy still has no access regardless of status. Note, it’s possible if you have no status and you purchased a regular economy ticket that you see no seats available for selection. This typically happens when the flight is oversold, or fully sold, and the seats up front are the only ones available and being held for status members. Check back on the website regularly to see if any regular seats open up for you to reserve. If you are booking basic economy tickets, you will NOT be able to select seats together unless you pay for them. Basic economy fares DO NOT INCLUDE FREE SEAT SELECTION. If you purchase tickets and are not on the same reservation or do not select seats ahead of time, that is your fault. If your family is flying together, and you have purchased tickets for all family members, you may want to ask if the airline will be able to seat your family members together. Remember if you want to sit together you need to purchase tickets that are on the same locator. You cannot just purchase tickets all on the same locator. What you need to do is select seats ahead of time that are together. Whether or not you have to pay for these seats depends upon what seats are available at the time of booking. If you purchased seats ahead of time and then were split up, you definitely have a cause to complain. In this case, if you paid extra for a seat and did not sit in that seat, you can request a refund from American. But if you did not pay, did not select your seats and then as a group of 4 or 5 people expect to sit together when you go to check in, that is your fault and NOT THE AIRLINES. Sitting in the wrong airplane seat isn't ideal for anyone; it can be a hassle to change your seat, but that doesn't mean you can't do anything about it. We provide a guide on how to solve your issue quickly on your own and also list the fastest way you can contact the airline's agents when need be. American Airlines charges a fee for seat selection during booking, but disabled people can select a seat for free. However, you may choose a place and then decide to change it after booking. Whether you want extra legroom, a prime seat, a preferable window seat, or a change from one class of service to another, here's how to change your seat selection. How to Choose Seat on American Airlines Choosing your seat on American Airlines couldn't be easier. You can do it when you buy your ticket, at the airport or online through your reservation once you've checked in. Here's how to choose your seat on American Airlines. Choose a Seat When You Book Your Ticket If you want to choose your seat ahead of time, the easiest way is to pick a seat when you book your ticket. The website will show you a map of available seats on the plane, and you can pick one that works for you. Choose a Seat at the Airport If you don't get your seat assignment in advance or if you want to change it, visit the airline's kiosk at the airport to see what's available. Selecting and changing seats is simple with the kiosk, but remember there are no guarantees that a good seat will be available when you arrive at the airport. When you book your flight on American Airlines, you can choose your seat based on the type of experience you want to have. Whether you are looking for extra room or peace and quiet, these tips will help you pick your perfect seat. Traveling with an infant If you are traveling with an infant, American Airlines offers bassinets for babies under 2 years old who weigh less than 20 pounds. If you require a bassinet, call the airline after booking your flight since they are limited and can't be reserved in advance. Extra room If you need more legroom, the best place to sit is in the exit row, which has at least 7 inches of extra legroom compared with other rows. There is a fee of $39-$99 per person for these seats, depending on the flight duration and time of year. Exit row seats also cannot be occupied by anyone under 15 years old or someone traveling with an infant. The Main Cabin Extra section is located at the front of the economy cabin and has approximately 6 inches more legroom than other economy seats. These seats come with a fee starting at $9 per person for flights over 1 hour and 15 minutes long. For an ordinary economy seat but with extra room to stretch out, choose a seat Choose a Seat Online After Checking In After checking in online and getting your boarding pass, log into American Airlines' AAdvantage website (link in Resources). Click on "My Trips" and find your reservation number. Then click "Change Seats," select the one you want and print out the new boarding pass. This option is available up until 30 minutes before departure. Where can I see seat maps for flights? When you book a flight operated by American Airlines, you'll see the seat map after you choose your flights. Why couldn’t I choose seats when I booked my flights? If you are unable to choose seats when you book, check back closer to departure or American will assign you a seat when you check in. My flights are confirmed, why can’t I reserve my seats? American Airlines reserves some seats until the day of departure to allow AA airport personnel to accommodate passenger needs. If you are unable to reserve a seat at the time of booking, you may get your seat when you check in for your flight. If you want a seat closer to the front of the plane, book as early as possible. Seats become available as they are purchased by other travelers. You can visit aa.com frequently to check the seats that are still available for your flight. What happens to my seat if there is a schedule or equipment change? American Airlines will make every effort to reseat passengers in the same seats. When this isn’t possible, we’ll attempt to seat you in a like seat. We appreciate your cooperation when special circumstances won’t allow us to reseat you in your original assigned seat. How to change your seat on American Airlines: Step-by-step American Airlines allows customers to pick their seats during or after booking a flight, and those who wish to select seats before purchasing tickets may do so by following these steps: Go to aa.com and then click on the My Trips section. Enter the booking number and last name. Select your booking and then look for any available seat. Now you can pick a seat and follow the on-screen instructions. You should be able to see a list of vacant seats with the prices inclusive Choose the one that you prefer and then click on Continue Here, you'll receive a prompt to pay for the seat change or upgrade. World’s most beautiful clock towers
A welcoming view in San Francisco San Francisco’s Ferry Building, a Beaux-Arts building with a 245ft-tall tower, was the city’s primary point for arrivals and departures between 1898 and the late 1930s, when the Golden Gate and Bay bridges were built. Inside, a 660ft-long skylit atrium that once provided access to ferries now houses shops and restaurants, including Blue Bottle Coffee and the Asian restaurant Slanted Door. It is especially crowded on Saturday mornings when a farmers’ market takes over the space in front and in the rear of the building, overlooking the bay. (Julie Clarke-Bush) Colombia's grand gateway From a mosque-like tower in Malaysia to one of London’s most iconic structures, these five landmarks were designed to stand the test of time. In Colombia, the four-sided Torre del Reloj gate grants access to the most charming part of Cartagena – a walled section of 18th-century mansions, leafy squares and street cafes. The tower and clock were added in 1888; in the foreground, a statue of city founder Pedro de Heredia keeps watch. (Guillermo Vasquez/Flickr) Prague’s macabre mainstay Clockmaker Hanuš, who perfected Prague’s Old Town Hall Tower in 1490, was supposedly blinded so that he wouldn’t make a more beautiful version elsewhere. As the perfect revenge, Hanuš stopped the clock from functioning, and it was 100 years before someone would figure out how to repair it. The clock is known for its 12 marching apostles; a skeleton on the right, depicting Death, starts the show by pulling on a string and looking at his other hand, in which he holds an hourglass. Then, two windows open, allowing the apostles to make their moves. A magnificent late-Gothic door in the adjacent house serves as the main entrance to the Old Town Hall. (Reed Kaestner/Corbis) Moorish notes in Malaysia Completed in 1897 by the British colonial administration, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building anchors Kuala Lumpur’s Merdeka Square. Its Moorish style can be attributed to the mosques that architect AC Norman observed while in India. The Union Jack flag was replaced by the Malaysian flag on 31 August 1957, and many national events have taken place here since. (Boris Henriot) A storied sight in London “Big Ben” was originally a nickname used for the gargantuan bell inside the London clock tower. These days, the moniker refers to the bell, the clock face and the 315ft tower too – though the beloved icon was officially renamed the Elizabeth Tower in 2012, as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebration. Built from the inside out, the stone and granite tower got its finishing touch with the clock tower’s installation in 1859. The cast-iron minute hands proved too heavy, so they were replaced with today’s lighted copper hands. (Paul Hardy/Corbis)
Art Field Trip: Japanese American National Museum's Hello Kitty Exhibit in LA
Yesterday, my friends and I were able to visit the Japanese American National Museum's Hello Kitty retrospective, "Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty", which opened in the LA-based museum last month. Running through April 26, the exhibit celebrates everything Hello Kitty to commemorate her 40th anniversary. From backpacks and notebooks to toasters and even motor oil, the variety of products that have featured Sanrio's most iconic character is seriously staggering. Here, you get to see some of the most impressive of these. You even get to see Hello Kitty outfits and accessories once worn by celebrity Kitty fans ranging from Cameron Diaz to Katy Perry. (You can even get up close and personal with a Lady Gaga performance dress made of nothing but Hello Kitty stuffed toys!) But perhaps my favorite part of the exhibit is a complete art gallery filled with paintings, sculptures, and interactive works all inspired by Hello Kitty. The artists featured represent both American and Japanese artists, and include such popular ones as Audrey Kawasaki, Gary Baseman, D*face, and Yoskay Yamamoto. Check them out in the attached pictures! Sometimes, they ask from Flair Air Customer Service but cannot understand the process during the calling process. The process is as follows: Here are steps to get the money back from Flair Air: * Before requesting money back from the airline, passengers need to cancel their flight tickets. * Open the official site of Flair Air, and tap on the ‘manage my trip’ option. * A tab will prompt on the screen, where you need to enter your ticket's credentials like the number and last name of the traveler. * Tap on the cancel the button option, and flight tickets will get canceled. Immediately after canceling the flight tickets, passengers need to search for the ‘refund link’ present on the airline's homepage.  * Fill out the form with the relevant details as asked by the airline. Submit the form to the airline.  * If forms are accepted by the airline, passengers will be credited with all the refunded money by the airline in the same way it was paid for the flight tickets. SFMOMA's Colorful Mondrian Cake: A Recipe
One thing I've been a little obsessed with lately is the special dessert collaboration between Blue Bottle Coffee and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). The coffee company has created special desserts especially to be sold at the museum, all of which are inspired by famous modern artists. My personal favorite is a cake inspired by Piet Mondrian's "Composition in Red, Yellow & Blue". Mondrian worked with virtual simplification of forms until all that was left was thick lines and blocks that varied in color meant to create a sense of movement in the piece. Now replace all those lines and blocks with chocolate and fluffy pieces of cake, and you've got yourself something as fun to eat as it is to simply look at. The SFMOMA is currently under construction until early 2016, so you can only order full cakes off the Blue Bottle website. However, since their collaboration, head pastry chef Caitlin Freeman has also published a book full of all the different art-inspired recipes called "Modern Art Desserts". Here is the recipe for adventurous Vinglers who want to create a little edible art in their kitchen! (Attached is a bonus video of Blue Bottle Coffee making their on Mondrian cakes, plus my second place favorite SFMOMA dessert, the "Ocean Park #122"-inspired Richard Diebenkorn Trifle!) Mondrian Cake You will need 1 x 20cm square tin 3 x 450g loaf tin (measuring approx 16cm x 11cm x 7cm) or 1 battenberg tin For the cakes 500g unsalted butter 500g caster sugar 5 eggs 500g sour cream or Greek yogurt 750g self-raising flour 1 tsp of salt Red, blue and yellow food coloring gels or paste For the ganache 400g dark 50% chocolate, chopped 300ml double cream Preparation 1. Preheat the oven to 180C (350F). Grease and line the base and sides of your tins with baking paper. 2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy using a food processor, electric hand whisk, or a wooden spoon and some elbow grease. Add the eggs, one at a time, plus sour cream, self-raising flour and salt, and whisk together until smooth. 3. Spoon 900g of the mix into the 20cm square tin and put to one side. 4. Divide the remaining mixture into three bowls, with approximately 450g of cake mix in each. Color one bowl’s mixture with the blue dye, another with the red and finally, yellow. You want the colors to be vivid, so really go for it. 5. Spoon the different colored mixtures into the three separate loaf tins and place in the oven, along with the square tin, for 45-50 minutes, until an inserted skewer comes out clean. (You might want to rotate the tins so that they’re evenly cooked.) Leave to cool, then transfer to wire racks. 6. Meanwhile, make the ganache, which you will use to stick the cake together and coat the outside. Put the chocolate into a bowl and heat the cream in a saucepan over a medium heat. Just before it boils, pour it over the chocolate. Leave to sit for five minutes, then stir until smooth. Leave to cool. 7. Place the cooled cakes on a chopping board. Using a bread knife, slice all the edges off the cakes so that you’re left with long, brightly colored rectangles, approximately 18cm in length. 8. Using a picture of your chosen Mondrian for inspiration, very carefully measure and slice the cakes to make straight-edged long rectangles. Put the cake slices together as you build your picture. 9. Line two trays with baking parchment. Piece by piece, spread the cake lengths with the chocolate ganache, using it like glue to stick your strips back together to recreate your Mondrian on one tray. Put in the fridge to firm up for about one hour – this hardens the ganache and makes the cake easier to work with. 10. Remove the cake from the fridge. Spread the ganache over the cake, using a pallet knife to smooth it over the sides and top. Transfer to the fridge for one hour to firm up. Remove from the fridge, place the second lined baking tray on top and invert the cake. Use the rest of ganache to coat the remaining edge – you may have to heat it up slightly to loosen it. Make sure the ganache is evenly spread. Place in the fridge for a final hour, then remove and allow it to reach room temperature. Finally, slice the cake, feel smug and serve.
Koreatown LA: Desserts, Desserts, & More Desserts!
One of my East Coast friends is flying to LA this summer and staying in Koreatown. Since I'm a San Diegan that sometimes heads up to LA on weekends, she asked me what to eat and where to go when visiting K-Town. Being that we've got a whole bunch of K-Entertainment fans on here, I figured it might be useful to list places for ALL of you - so if and when you're in California, you know where to visit to try some delicious food. I figured I'd start off with a card dedicated to some of my all-time favorite Koreatown desserts! Bingsu @ Cafe Heyri 755 S Hobart Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90005 There's plenty of places to get Korean-style shaved ice in Koreatown, but none of them have the variety of Cafe Heyri. There's traditional red bean (pat) bingsu, melon, green tea, coffee, chocolate, and - my personal favorite - seasonal fruit (pictured above)! Macaron Ice Cream @ HAUS by Coffee Hunter 3826 W 6th St. Los Angeles, CA 90020 A growing trend in dessert cafes is the ice cream macaron - an ice cream sandwich made by layering ice cream between two very big macaron shells. Not only is HAUS' version my absolute favorite, but if you're a K-Pop fan, this cafe's got massive flat-screen TVs that play all your favorite music videos while you eat! Bungeoppang @ Okrumong 3801 W 6th St. Los Angeles, CA 90020 Not only is Okrumong famous for its incredible take on traditional patbingsu, but it's also one of the few places in Koreatown where you can get a basket fresh bungeoppang - fish-shaped waffle-like breads filled with red bean - to share with friends! Animal Donuts @ Fantastic Donuts 1101 S Vermont Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90006 You can read a little bit more about these adorable donuts here, but Fantastic Donuts has become pretty Instagram popular for their cute animal and character donut designs. (However, I'd definitely also recommend their cereal-topped ones. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch one almost tastes like a churro!) Honeycomb Ice Cream @ Honeymee 3377 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 116, Los Angeles, CA 90010 I was telling my fellow So.Cal foodie @hmfong that I've never been able to check out Honeymee personally. Why? Because every time I'm in the neighborhood, there's a huge line of customers! How's that for a testament about how locals feel about this simply vanilla soft-serve topped with liquid honey and a generous REAL honeycomb on top? Mochi Ice Cream @ Mikawaya 118 Japanese Village Plaza Mall, Los Angeles, CA 90012 So I'm cheating and throwing in a Little Tokyo wild card - Mikawaya! Chances are, if you've ever had store bought mochi ice cream, it was made by the Mikawaya company. But LA is the only place where you can visit its shop and order some pretty unique mochi ice cream flavors, including plum wine, black sesame, and mint chocolate chip! So which one of these would you be down to try? Have any of you visited Koreatown and have other recommendations?
