I'm from San Diego, so I grew up right next to the beach. The ocean has always been really important to me (even though I barely go waist-deep) and I do miss it a lot when I'm in Seoul. This weekend though, I traveled to Busan which is Korea's second largest city and sits right on the south eastern tip of the country. No matter where you are in the city you can either see the ocean, hear the ocean, or at least see one of the many canals that juts through the city. I wish I had more time there to really explore and even though I've been there before, I haven't seen even a fraction of this gorgeous place! Here's my weekend in Busan, I hope you enjoy!
This Korean Cafe's Shaved Ice Has A Dino-Mite Surprise!
South Korea is known for offering an endless amount of cafes, and in order to stand out in a crowd, these cafes are constantly coming up with new and creative ways to keep the customers coming. Needless to say, there's lots of awesome going on in Korea's cafe scene, but this Busan-based cafe and their Dinosaur Egg shaved ice might be taking the proverbial cake. The shell is made out of a cookies and cream white chocolate and sits on a 'nest' of chocolate shavings, pearls, and shaved ice. Not enough chocolate for you? Don't worry. They give you some chocolate syrup on the side. Every order of the shaved ice also comes with a metal hammer, so that you could play archaeologist and tap the shell open! this is a picture of them from earlier that day (170505) so you can see their outfits are the same^^ So, my Friday was a lot more interesting than I thought it was going to be LOL Originally I was just going to have a chill picnic on Friday (it was a holiday in Korea) then get coffee with a new friend, but two members of Monsta X decided to crash the party. I was waiting for my friend at the subway station exit and saw two guys pull up on a bike next to me. I looked at the first guy and he looked SO FAMILIAR but I couldnt remember where I knew him from. Then I looked at the second guy and HE WAS SO FAMILIAR TOO and then suddenly it clicked and I realized they were in Monsta X. My video was a little late so you can only see their profiles but I'm sure Monsta X fans can tell who they are :) Turns out Startship's building is nearby so they were probably just taking a break and enjoying the nice weather :) Are either of them your biases? My coworker is a TOTAL Minhyuk stan but she was still dying of jealousy hahaha

Every year, the Pride Festival is met with violent protestors and often is even shut down or ruined by the government itself. This year, mothers and fathers of young Koreans who identify as LGBT came out to the Pride celebration to embrace other young Koreans. Some how have been thrown out of their homes because of their sexual orientation, some who will never feel a parent's loving embrace again. The video is really positive, and I hope it gives you all some hope during this dark time.

Jeju is often called the 'Hawaii of Korea' because this island is filled with breathtaking beauty and a great climate. I've been there three times and still haven't seen all I've wanted to, but on this trip I was able to cross something off my bucket list finally: picking tangerines from one of Jeju's famous tangerine farms! About a month ago I showed you guys my empty sad looking apartment (watch it here) But now I have finally moved in!!! My apartment is in Gangnam and costs me about $420 per month, including my water bill. I still have to pay wifi, gas, and electric but that is pretty cheap :) Let me know what you think! In case you're thinking of moving to Korea one day, you can definitely find cheaper apartments. I just prefer to live close to my office which is in an expensive area (Gangnam) but areas near universities like Hongdae or Sinchon can be much cheaper!
First Blossoms in Seoul and a Cherry Blossom Latte?!
Spring has finally reach Seoul! To celebrate I visited the first apricot blossoms to bloom and then grabbed a giant, BEAUTIFUL cherry blossom latte from my favorite cafe.
