As an e-dealer, you are forced to use a lot of packaging every day to ship all your packages. And with growing awareness, the orders continue to flourish. But how can you minimize the environmental impact of your work? And above all, how do you advertise this to your customers? Check out all our tips below.
1) Use eco-friendly packaging
The customer's first physical contact with your brand is through the package they receive. That's why your appearance is important. If you want to communicate your commitment to the environment, there is nothing better than using recycled cardboard or an envelope of power bubbles from renewable resources such as wood fibers from the forests. FSC or PEFC certified. A logo is affixed to this packaging, which ensures high visibility of your ecological responsibility.
What are environmentally friendly packaging?
For all types of packaging (shipping, packaging, sealing, etc.) there is an ecological alternative. Either the packaging is recyclable, which means that we can reuse its material to make another packaging, or it is biodegradable, which means that it dissolves in nature in less than six months. Here is a non-exhaustive list of packaging's organic transport packaging:
single and double corrugated cardboard boxes
the mailboxes...
Shipping boxes
Cardboard envelopes
Kraft Boxes wedge (roll or spiral)
SizzlePak paper wedges are set
the wooden connections
Tissue paper
Kraftband (the base is made of kraft paper instead of the usual plastic film)
It is also possible to recycle your used shipping boxes to Garnier. For example, they can be converted into padded boxes or brought into the state of crimping. This way you can save money when buying new logs!
2) Reduce the number of packages
To have a good brand image, it is preferable to use only the necessary amount of packaging and no more (especially for the fit). In this way, it not only presents itself as ecologically responsible but also shows its competence in handling. In short, you are true e-commerce professional!
In addition, packaging reduction facilitates packaging, which is reflected in a reduction in transportation costs. Everybody's a winner!
How can ecology and effective protection be combined?
But the problem remains to find the right balance between ecology and economics on the one hand and effective protection of the package on the other. Two methods collide:
the choice of a single corrugated cardboard box with a good fit: the purchase of the cardboard box is cheaper, but the shipping costs are more expensive because the package is heavier;
the decision for a double-fluted box to put less wedge: the purchase of the cardboard box is more expensive, but the shipping costs are lower.
There is no quick fix, it is up to you to try several combinations of packaging and upholstery for each type of product you sell with the test packs. In this way, you will know whether these protective suits are effective or not.
3) Reuse of old packaging
Finally, in order to limit the environmental impact of your shipping packaging, you can offer your customers various options for reusing this packaging. Cardboard is very easy to reuse and, above all, very fashionable: this is how we can produce furniture or cardboard frames with cardboard technology. You can also simply cut out these boxes to build a house or car for the kids. The possibilities are endless!
You can communicate about this by offering tutorials in your blog or by printing the instructions directly on the cardboard packaging.
Thanks to all the advice we have given you, you can reduce your company's environmental footprint. Do not forget to promote your environmental commitment and all the actions that are being taken in this direction.
