When there's heavy cover, using a punch rig can help you fish in that cover and get the fish that are hiding in their. This video by Kevin Combs really does a great explanation of why this rig works so well, and just how to set it up. Like he mentions, this helps keep the rig from clunking through the cover and spooking the fish. Make sure to use a non-flex hook and you'll be good to go--you need to be able to set a solid hook or you'll loose the fish on retrieval due to the heavy cover. Additionally, using soft plastics will help you not snag as much when going through grass, tangled, branches and more. Texas rig the plastic at the end to help prevent snags as well.

Are there any requirements on hook size or line weight that work better for this set up?
