Katherine Langford
Katherine Langford (born 29 April 1996) is an Australian actress. She is known for starring as Hannah Baker in the 2017 Netflix series 13 Reasons Why (2017), based on the novel of the same name, for which she received a Golden Globe Award nomination. In 2018, she appeared as Leah Burke in the romantic comedy-drama film Love, Simon (2018). Early life Langford was born in Perth and raised in Perth, Western Australia. She is the eldest daughter of Elizabeth Langford, a pediatrician, and Stephen Langford, a flying doctor and director of medical services at the Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations. She began voice lessons in 2005, and received classical, jazz, and contemporary vocal training. She was offered a place at Perth Modern School for her senior high years, where she studied music and drama, and was sports captain and a nationally ranked swimmer. Katherine Langford – “Le Defile L’Oreal Paris 2021” : Runway – Paris Fashion Week Initially during her time at high school, Langford was interested in medicine and politics, in addition to musical theatre. However, in 2012, when Langford was 16, she attended Lady Gaga’s concert, the Born This Way Ball, which inspired her to learn how to play the piano. She shared video of herself singing three original songs she wrote: “I’ve Got a Crush on Zoe Bosch,” “Young and Stupid,” and “3 Words.” “Young and Stupid” is an anti-suicide song she wrote in 2013 after three Perth teens took their lives. For her final year at Perth Modern, Langford stopped swimming and switched her focus to music and performance. She was successful in a number of musical eisteddfods and drama competitions. Langford appeared in the school’s production of Hotel Sorrento in 2013 and graduated that same year. After graduating high school, Langford was determined to become an actor. However, she was rejected from every acting school she applied to, on the grounds she was too young and did not have enough life experience. This led her to begin enrolling in acting classes and workshops in Perth, juggling three part-time jobs, and later finding herself an agent. From 2014 to 2015, Langford studied at the Principal Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts, majoring in Music Theatre, and appeared in a production of Godspell. She was then one of five selected to participate in the National Institute of Dramatic Arts Advanced Actors Residency in 2015. In the same year, she trained at Nicholson’s Academy of Screen Acting and portrayed the role of Juan Perón’s mistress in the 2015 production of Evita. Langford was offered a position in the Bachelor of Arts program in Acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and intended to begin studies in 2016. However, she never enrolled and instead pursued professional roles. Career Langford appeared as the lead character in a small independent short film, Daughter (2016) which debuted at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. At the end of 2016, after declining the offer from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Langford auditioned and was asked to test for Riverdale, and Will, a television series centered on the young life of William Shakespeare. She did not get either role, which were instead given to Lili Reinhart, and Olivia DeJonge. Langford auditioned for the role in the mystery teen drama TV series 13 Reasons Why over Skype and had only 10 days to get an O-1 visa as she had not worked in the United States before. She has received critical acclaim for her portrayal of the American high school student Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why. Langford researched the role, speaking with a representative of the sexual assault awareness campaign “It’s On Us” and a psychiatrist who specializes in adolescence. In December 2016, she signed with the William Morris Endeavor agency. In 2018 Langford appeared in her first feature film, Love, Simon, an adaptation of the coming-of-age novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, by Becky Albertalli. Katherine Langford – ‘Knives Out’ European Premiere In 2019, Langford co-starred in Knives Out, a murder mystery film. The ensemble cast received critical acclaim, and she was part of various awards and nominations for the role, which included a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Cast. In 2020, she starred in the film Spontaneous, a well-reviewed, dark comedy for which she received a Critics’ Choice Super Awards nomination for Best Actress in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie. So Long New York: My Friend, My Adversary
The time has come for me to say goodbye to New York City. People think they know a lot about this place. I thought I knew a lot, I was wrong. People think this is a city of dreams. Lights. Love. Labels. People think all of their problems will be solved when they get to New York. They think that one day they'll wake up in a beautiful apartment on the Upper East Side and life will be beautiful too. I used to be one of those people. I used to idolize the glamour I saw on TV. I wanted to be Carrie Bradshaw, always elegantly broke but never really getting into money trouble. Always coming up with designer outfits and designer men to ease the pain. I realized I could never be that person, because well...she doesn't exist. What does exist, however; is thousands of starving, hungry people who come to New York for a crack at the good life. They come from every country, every state. They see the lights and the tourist attractions and they think, "Hell yeah, I can do this. I will do this." The obstacles are enormous. The expenses, the transportation, the search for a job, the apartment, safety. The quest for these simple things can drive people into a state of absolute madness... ...but the rewards? Well, you can say you made it in New York City. You can say "I love New York" on a whole different plane, because you lived it. You lived in the garbage and the cat calls, the screaming and the sirens. You endured the transit mishaps and homeless people threatening your life. You listened to the conversations outside your window until four in the morning each night, and God damn it you always made it to work. You beat the pavement and explored the city even when things looked like they were running straight into the ground. New York Gives. New York takes. It's foul and furious. It's amazing and admirable. It's cultured and ignorant, fickle and surprising. I have never been challenged more than in my two months in New York. This short amount of time pushed me to the edge, and then, just as I was about to fall off, threw me back into safety. When I jumped on the plane to get here, I thought I had everything figured out. My course was set, destination steady, and I was going to make New York my bitch. New York is nobody's bitch, that's for damn sure. Things changed. Plans changed, and now I'm leaving. On to another uncharted plane, to start over, scared shitless just like when I arrived here. I didn't beat New York. I didn't find love. I didn't buy designer labels, and I definitely didn't find money. I'm not Carrie Bradshaw. I don't have a lot of friends. (Press Play on "Under Cover of Darkness" by New York's own, The Strokes, before continuing) I did, however, find truth, compassion and get my ass kicked. I didn't quit. I didn't back down. And when the subway car barreled down the track and I ran down the stairs in a panic, there was no greater thrill than the door closing in my face. In New York you have to own up to your bullshit, deal with your mistakes and think about your life in a real way. New York forces you to confront yourself and accept what makes you great and what makes you fucked up. You have to have faith. New York City makes you realize you don't have it all figured out, nor would you want to. So, as I ready to pack my suitcase again and fuck off to another distant land: I have to thank New York, my friend, my adversary. It is the smelly, dangerous, dirty and exciting place where I learned that nothing is forever, and everything is unexpected. The good, bad, ugly and indifferent things make us who we are. Yeah, life is like a suitcase, and moving can teach you a lot...but nothing could have prepared me for New York. Because under the cover of darkness, New York City waits for the broken, the beaten down, the dreamers and the frauds. It will make you better...or it will ruin your life. The best part? You have to choose. Goodbye New York, see you soon.
Top 10 Best Atheist Movies (Must Watch)
For millennials, art was inseparable from religion. Religion completely dominated culture, so aspiring Expressionists could only draw inspiration from approved doctrine. In Christianity, it was blasphemous to create something that was not already in the Bible, and in Islam, it was blasphemy to create... well... It does not matter that. Of course, such restrictions do make wonderful art, from the Sistine Chapel to Ben-Hur, and even Islam has established its own art by finding sophisticated solutions to Sharia law, such as calligraphic interpretations of scriptures. Nonetheless, the scope and beauty of theistic art are undeniable, but atheistic art is not without representation either. However as of late acknowledged into mainstream society, skeptic films exist and are among film's outperforms. We're discussing films that harbor topics of unbelief or stories that cultivate strict uncertainty.  They possess a lot more modest artistic specialty than those strictly propelled, yet just by virtue of their earliest stages. It's mind-boggling how as of late atheism was vilified in western culture, and this ill will in any case stays in a significant part of the world. To believe that the basic affirmation of the nonexistence of something apparently nonexistent is a conviction framework worth censuring is absurd. Atheism is as much a conviction as religion is proof. It's not reasonable to call them alternate extremes. The following movies are made for the people who do not believe, but the believer can still draw something of value from the wide-raging and well-executed themes. They’re not just lightning rods of disagreement, but objectively good films that would not look amiss on any other list. Hopeless Romantic: The 5 Most Important Carrie Bradshaw Quotes
Carrie Bradshaw is an icon among hopeless romantics, shoe addicts and city girls alike. Her relatable wisdom can be a guide for all sorts of people, whether we're finding love, we're single or we're committed for life. Her quotes can guide us. Here are the 5 most important Carrie Bradshaw quotes about love. We never really know what people are going through. Even if their relationship seems picture perfect on the outside, they could still be struggling. Don't judge or try and hurt others, especially when they're dealing with relationship issues. Just be there to support, and help if needed. We often follow our minds instead of our hearts because we think it's the right thing to do, but when we're dealing with a relationship all bets are off. Sometimes you can't fight fate. The heart makes itself known when it wants something, and at times, the best thing you can do is follow it. We may feel alone in our weirdness, but we can't stop being ourselves to please others. Someone will come along that shares your interest and your weirdness. Just keep looking, never settle, and never be with someone who doesn't love the real you, because what's the point if you're not being real? This quote might be the most famous of all, because it's true. Most of us are looking for the real thing, and we have problems because we run into people who aren't what they seem. We settle for the people that are easy, or fun, but never last. If we admit to ourselves that the chase is about something very real and very consuming, then we're one step closer to actually finding it. Knowing what you want is a huge part of finding someone to be with. No, this one is the most famous! And the most important. We can't love someone else if we don't love and appreciate ourselves. We have to understand that we are worth it. A good relationship takes time, and we must be willing to spend time on ourselves too. Putting too much energy into someone else can be draining, and it can hurt you. As Samantha Jones said, "I love you, but I love me more." Damn right!
