The Mary Poppins - A Teaspoon of Sugar Helps the Alcohol Go Down
I love when a drink calls for something like maple syrup - this has got to be delicious! Perhaps it will even have you singing on the rooftops with the chimney sweeps or dancing with penguins in the park.
This tasty specimen delivers on the bright cheeriness of Mary Poppins, with vibrant yet subtle fruit flavors warmly softened by the maple and clove.
Here's the recipe created by Suzanne Miller of Novela bar in San Francisco. All cocktails on their list are named for characters found in the pages of classic literature!
1.5 oz Apple Brandy
75 oz Maurin Quina liqueur
.5 oz King’s Ginger liqueur
.5 oz maple syrup (diluted 1:1 with water)
.5 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice
3 dashes of clove bitters.
Combine, shake, and strain into a highball glass, then splash with 1 oz club soda. Garnish with an apple peel ribbon, and the story is complete!
