Styles of Non-Fiction Writing: Biographies
Among the many styles of non-fiction writing is one that interests many people due to its versatility of subjects is a biography. A biography is the history of a person: where they are from, what they have done during their lives, and their experiences throughout their lifetime. An author tries to capture not only the basic facts about their lives truthfully, but to bring it alive with details beyond the basic facts. There are many examples of biography, and you can find biographies of presidents, musicians, athletes, prisoners of war, and more if you just take a glance into the library shelves. There are a few different types of biographies, such as an authorized biography or an auto-biography. An autobiography is a biography written by a person, about themselves. In many cases, the best person to write a biography is themselves, which is why this style became very popular for some time. However, there are those who say that people do not always tell the truth when writing about themselves, so be wary of ensuring that the facts you're believing are actually true. An authorized biography is a biography written by a third author, but with permission by the subjects. Not all biographies have this feature, because either the subject has already passed away, or they do not know about or want to be involved in the project. Some famous biographies that I particularly enjoyed recently are The Glass Castle by Jeanette Wells and Wild by Cheryl Strayed.

I was obsessed with Queen Elizabeth biographies as a kid! I'm not sure which would be more truthful though: with an autobiography the author can change small details of their life to make themselves seem better, but with a biography the author will never be 100% sure what the person was actually feeling during certain points in their life. Is there any way to get the full story? Hmmm

@nokcha And you've already hit THE question of non-fiction writers everywhere! I don't believe it is ever poasible to represent 100% Truth, but I believe it's possible to create an accurate representation of one perspective of the truth.
