8 Benefits and Factors of Touch Typing Skills

Touch typing is a skill that needs to be learned and it gets better when you practice using the right technique. Anyone who can touch-type will know all the letters on the keyboard through muscle memory. The term is often used for a specific type of touch typing that involves placing eight fingers in a horizontal line in the center of the keyboard. Here are some of the benefits of touch typing for you. Want to find out your typing speed, Visit the wpm test.

Advantages of Touch Typing Skill

1. Touch Typing Speed in Word Per Minute (WPM)

Touch-typing speed is going to be the first and biggest benefit. Touch typists can easily reach typing speeds of more than 75-80 words per minute, while hunt and peak typists press hard to reach 30 words per minute. It also enhances the need to look at a skilled touch typist keyboard. If you have to look down another keyboard every time to find your next key, it's hard to type something while reading it.

2. Typing Accuracy

It is important to type accurately, how difficult it is for you to type. Ask anyone who has ever played a multi-player online game, and they will tell you how important it is to be able to type fast and accurately. If your typing skills are so outrageous no one will be able to understand what you are saying so no one will be able to go to your rescue.

3. Time

By increasing your typing speed from 30 words per minute to 60, you have effectively reduced the amount of time you have to work. The average two-finger typist, typing for an example of 15 words per minute, will type a 250-word section in about 17 minutes. Touch typists, on the other hand, can type the same section in about 4 minutes by typing an average of 60 words per minute.

4. Fatigue

Typing is mentally and physically exhausting for long periods. Learning to type properly reduces mental and physical fatigue. Mentally, it saves you from focusing on two things at once. All you have to worry about is finding your product, not the individual key. Physically, it saves you from constantly bending your head down to find your next two keystrokes on the keyboard.

5. Health

Overall, touch typing is good for your health. You don’t see the keys, and all your fingers reduce the risk of recurrent stress injuries or RSI. Most people who work all day on a keyboard or with a computer are at risk of this recurrent stress injury.

6. Job Prospects

Typing is not an optional skill. Most employers also require computer skills and certain speed for certain positions. Needless to say, they don’t search for 20-30 words per minute and search typists. Learning to type touch, and doing so accurately, can be one of the most valuable skills of your career.

7. Focus

When you type with two fingers your attention is divided between finding the key on the keyboard and the work you do on the computer. Learning touch-type allows you to focus on one thing instead of two. This makes it easier to increase productivity and focus on the details of your project rather than focusing on your key.

8. Editing

If you spend your time looking at your keyboard, you won't notice it unless you make spelling or grammar mistakes. Touch Typing gives you the option to edit on the go. You'll be able to see the backspace when errors appear and eliminate them. It’s also good for grammatical mistakes because what you’re seeing in your head won’t feel good on paper.

Factors for considering touch typing skills

A range of factors is involved in deciding how long it will take to learn how to touch the type.

Factors to keep in mind are concentration, motivation, age of the student, and if students are having difficulty learning anything.

Concentration:

If a student's concentration is poor or weak, it will take them a long time to learn how to touch the type. Touch typing requires concentration and perseverance in learning where the keys are on the keyboard.

Motivation:

If a student is not motivated to learn touch typing, unfortunately, they will not learn how to touch type. If they do not see the benefits of touch typing and do the same instead, the student will never learn to touch properly and will return to their ways (hunt and peck method).

Age:

The younger the age of learning how to type, the longer it takes to learn to type. We believe the best age to touch type is eight years. We feel younger than eight years old, students are not ready to touch to learn to type successfully due to their hand size and lack of concentration.

Learning difference:

If a student has difficulty in learning such as dyslexia, dyspraxia (DCD), dysgraphia, this student will have more time to learn how to touch the type than a student who has no learning difficulty. We think that classroom education is a great solution for a child with educational differences for these students.

Common mistakes when typing touch

There are some mistakes people make when learning how to touch and we will briefly go through the most popular ones.

The most common is to cross your fingers on the letters "Y" and "B". For "Y", you should always use the index finger of the right hand, but some people are used to press with other indexes.

The same thing happens with "B" where you have to press it with the fingers of your left hand but it is usually pressed with your right index.

The second most common mistake when learning how to type is to use the wrong side modifiers.

For example, if you want to press "Shift" + "A", use the shift to the right instead of the left.

When you have to press complex keys with more keys like “Ctrl” + “Alt” + “A” the reason you learn the modifiers on both sides is more obvious If you press all the keys to your left, you will forcefully move your hand in an awkward position that will bring you down. In this case, you use “Ctrl” and “Alt” on the right side of the keyboard and press A on your left.

Bottom Line

Touch typing doesn’t feel like a fit of time, especially if you already have faith in your hunt and peck skills. However, it is the most valuable skill you can learn. It may take a little longer than you like, especially if you have to re-experience bad habits in life, in the end, the investment made for a short time will pay off in ways that are beyond your imagination.

How does sleep affect mental wellbeing?
Research suggests that good quality rest can make people happier. In fact, more evidence exists than ever linking sleep with happiness. Sleep is essential to both metabolism and immune health, but research also indicates it plays an integral part in mood regulation by stimulating parts of the brain that control emotion and help us manage responses to stress. Thus, researchers have come to conclude that both are closely intertwined. Studies have revealed that depression makes it harder to get enough sleep, while disruptions of your sleeping pattern can increase symptoms associated with this illness. Anxiety symptoms also make falling and staying asleep more challenging, compounding their severity while increasing intensity levels further. Lifestyle factors, diet, exercise, medication and physical conditions all can have an effect on these connections; too much caffeine consumption for instance can interfere with sleep by stimulating the brain and making it more difficult to fall or stay asleep. Sleep has a direct and reciprocal relationship with mental health, with poor sleeping leading to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), psychosis and psychosis among other illnesses. Furthermore, insomnia may contribute to other medical problems including pain management, heart disease management, high blood pressure issues and weight gain. A good night's sleep remains an integral component to overall mental wellbeing. Enhancing behaviors that promote good rest while diminishing those which disrupt it can have profound impacts on mood and can reduce symptoms associated with mental illnesses like anxiety. Sleep improvement must therefore be part of any comprehensive treatment plan for mental illness. Talk to your doctor or The Air Station if there is any sleep apnea or sleep disorder symptoms, seek for sleep diagnosis and sleep apnea treatment with CPAP machines (continuous positive airway pressure machines such as ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset and AirMini) based on the current medical condition.

Mastery of Strokes Gained: What's the Key to Getting Better at Golf?
What is Strokes Gained? Strokes Gained is a new golf statistic that looks at how a golfer's individual shots stack up against the field average. To determine which aspects of a golfer's game are gaining or losing the most strokes, this data can then be broken down into specific areas of the game, such as driving, approach, short game, and putting. When it comes to putting, this would be me waving my hand in the air. Mark Broadie, a golf statistician, came up with the idea of Strokes Gained in 2006. Since then, it has become a popular tool for golfers of all levels to evaluate their performance and find areas for improvement. Strokes Gained has changed the manner in which golf players approach practice and procedure. Golfers can better understand their strengths and weaknesses and tailor their training accordingly by thoroughly analyzing each shot. For instance, if a golfer discovers that they consistently lose strokes on their approach shots or putting shots (more on that later), they can concentrate their practice on improving that aspect of their game. The average number of strokes required by a professional golfer to complete a hole or round is used to compare a player's performance to a benchmark. Strokes gained is a measure of a player's progress. Strokes gained can likewise be utilized to assess the exhibition of expert golf players, giving significant bits of knowledge to mentors, investigators, and fans the same. The Idea of Strokes Gained The idea of strokes gained is fairly straightforward. It determines how well or poorly a golfer performs on each shot in comparison to the standard. For instance, if a golfer finishes a hole in three strokes, they have gained one stroke if the standard for that hole is four strokes. On the other hand, they lose one stroke if they finish the hole in five strokes. Strokes Gained takes into account the distance and lie of the ball, the type of shot (tee shot, approach shot, putt, etc.), and the difficulty of the hole, all of which can affect a golfer's performance. Strokes gained provides a more accurate picture of a golfer's skill level than traditional statistics like putts per round or fairways hit by comparing their performance to the benchmark. How are Strokes Gained figured out? Strokes Gained can be determined for each shot. The system compares the golfer's performance on that shot to the benchmark, taking into account the aforementioned factors. The outcome is a number that addresses the number of strokes the golf player that acquired or lost on that shot contrasted with the benchmark.

Sleep Can Protect Against Alzheimer's Disease
Sleep is essential to both physical and mental wellbeing. We already know it strengthens memory, increases concentration levels, and can boost brainpower. But now there is evidence suggesting deep sleep could also provide protection from Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia. Scientists from UC Berkeley have discovered that people with superior amounts of deep sleep tend to show less memory decline even when already possessing high levels of beta-amyloid in their brain. Scientists suspect that lack of deep sleep inhibits an important natural process for clearing away beta-amyloid and other toxic clumps of protein from the brain, leading them to build up over time. According to recent mouse research, researchers discovered that the slow brain waves associated with non-rapid eye movement sleep (NREM), including three stages including deep sleep, function as an effective form of dishwasher in eliminating protein clumps from mouse brain cells; when mice didn't get enough deep rest however, these cleaning mechanisms became disabled; similar mechanisms could cause human brain cells asleep from engaging their slow wave counterparts which activate this same mechanism and thus leading to amyloid plaque formation or other signs associated with Alzheimer's disease symptoms. Scientists from UC Berkeley conducted an in-depth analysis on data from 62 older adults who had participated in previous studies where they received sleep monitors to wear at home and underwent brain scans that revealed beta-amyloid deposits; those with higher amounts clogged their brains more, while those with less deposits performed significantly better on memory tests that required matching names to faces. Scientists also discovered that those with deeper sleep had reduced amounts of tau, another protein linked to Alzheimer's disease. It would be prudent to limit alcohol and caffeine in the evening, consume foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, get regular exercise, socialize regularly with others and remain mentally healthy. The Alzheimer's Association provides additional information regarding prevention and treatment. Their website also features an easy search tool that can help find local support groups near your location. Improving sleep habits may help individuals retain their memory and cognitive skills for longer, with hopes that this work may pave the way towards strategies to delay Alzheimer's. Depression, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other medical conditions may contribute to Alzheimer's development. Treating such issues is also vital. Sleep apnea treatment may include the use of continuous positive airway pressure machines or CPAP machines, such as ResMed AirMini or AirSense 10 Autoset. Symptoms of Alzheimer's disease may include confusion, difficulty walking and difficulty speaking. Should these symptoms present themselves immediately contact your healthcare provider immediately. Speaking with healthcare providers for additional guidance may also be beneficial.

Is Sleep Apnea Genetic?
If your family struggles with sleep apnea, you may wonder if the condition runs in your genes. Regularly interrupted breathing during sleep has serious long-term health implications; yet many with the condition remain undiagnosed and untreated. If you suspect you might have sleep apnea yourself, seeing a physician immediately to get treatment may help - they will review family history and symptoms and may refer you to a sleep specialist or lab for an overnight study. Researchers have discovered that multiple genes may contribute to obstructive sleep apnea, the most prevalent form. When any of these genes is present, the chances that someone will develop sleep apnea increase significantly; studies have demonstrated this fact; having one parent, sibling or child with sleep apnea increases your risk by up to 50%! Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) https://www.theairstation.com/post/can-snoring-be-a-symptom-ofobstructive-sleep-apnea occurs when throat muscles collapsing during sleep and blocking off airways, known as collapsing and collapsing during sleep. Genes play a part in muscle tone of the throat, which in turn influences how quickly and easily muscles relax during sleep, leading to OSA. Furthermore, having smaller or narrower throats increases risk. Central sleep apnea tends to be less genetic, with brain structures no longer communicating effectively with muscles that assist breathing. This may be caused by various factors including alcohol or drug abuse, obesity and age. Lifestyle changes may help lower risk for both forms of sleep apnea. While genetic makeup can increase one's chances of sleep apnea, environmental factors like obesity, age and sexual activity (with men being particularly at risk) play a much bigger part. Although environmental factors increase one's odds for developing sleep apnea significantly, they do not impact every individual equally.
