DoChi Pizza in Gangnam (도치피자)
I've had a few requests for location specific date ideas so I'll be adding these in too. Today, I give you all a fantastic date course in Gangnam. I went out last night to meet one of my oppas and although we're not dating each other, we had a great time and on the way home, I realised that with some added hand-holding etc, it could have easily been an awesome date! We met at Gangnam Station Exit 11 and after deciding we both fancied pizza, we headed to a lovely little Italian restaurant tucked away in the back streets called Dochi. The restaurant seems to be very popular but it wasn't particularly noisy and the music wasn't too loud resulting in a really calm atmosphere so we could chat away without straining to hear what the other person was saying. I was always told one of the best ways to just a restaurant is by how quickly the server comes over to your table. The service as Dochi was very good - our order was taken quickly and we didn't have to wait too long for the food. The pizzas at Dochi are all cooked in signature wood-fired ovens and are really well-prepared - the result? Delicious. It was definitely some of the best pizza I've ever eaten in Korea...and I've eaten quite a bit of pizza in Korea! We ordered a pizza and a salad. A friend of my oppa had recommended the shrimp and mushroom salad so we ordered that with the Diabolo pizza; mozzarella cheese, spicy salami and crushed red peppers. The salad was really appealing; it didn't only look great but it tasted great too. A mixture of sautéed mushrooms with shrimp on a bed of green salad and cherry tomatoes, sprinkled with parmesan and served with a light oil dressing. As for the pizza, aside from having a really yummy, thin, crispy base, I was most impressed by the quality of the cheese - you won't realise how impressive this is until you try 'normal' pizza in Korea which is generally made with 'plastic cheese' or philadelphia?!. The pizza packed quite a spicy punch but in the best way possible - it definitely exceeded my expectations and was exactly what was needed. Costs Involved: Salads start from around 13,000won. Pizzas and Pastas start from around 15,000won. Location: 620-17 Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (서울 강남구 역삼동 620-17) Directions: Travel by underground to Gangnam Station and take Exit 11.
