Shopping time! Famous as a shopping mecca for tourists, you won't have to worry about language barriers in Myeong-dong because most shops have at least one staff member who can speak Chinese, English and Japanese - I've even seen stores with French, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese speaking staff! With a daytime population of roughly two million people, it does get pretty packed but the area’s well-developed transportation grid makes it the ideal place for visitors who may not yet be familiar with the city. If all that fails, there are state volunteers to help you out if you get stuck. Much of Myeongdong's popularity stems from the fact that it is much more affordable than other more upscales areas of Seoul. Full of restaurants, boutiques and flagship stores for Korea's leading beauty brands, Myeongdong is definitely worth a visit. My Korean friend put it perfectly; "Shop. Coffee. Shop. Food. Repeat". Admission is free - how much you end up spending is up to you. Location: 30, Eulji-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul-si 서울특별시 중구 을지로 30 (남대문로2가) MyeongDong Station (Subway Line 4). Directions: Travel by underground to MyeongDong Station (Line 4) and take Exit 6. (Then explore!) For More Information: The number for the MyeongDong Tourist Information Centre is: +82 2 774 3238 (Eng / Chi / Jap)
I tend to stay away from Myeongdong because there are just so many tourists - are you going to be making posts about Apgujeong and Rodeo Drive? I tend to shop there..
I haven't been to Korea yet but I'd love to go - I'll be looking forwards to seeing what else you post. Hopefully by the time I get round to going to Korea, I'll already have my to-do list sorted!
@aero2042 a card for Apgujeong is on the way - stay tuned!
@acrossthesea I'll be posting lots of stuff so stay tuned! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch!
