Last week I introduced the shopping mecca of MyeongDong. This week we take a look at Dongdaemun. For those of you not so keen on paying brand-pricing or for the fashionistas who want to find the next trend before it hits the shops, Dongdaemun is the place to be. The shopping complex is huge; it has 5 main districts and a shopping town.
The market, which opened back in 1905, is one of the oldest of its kind in Korea. Name it and you shall find it; Dongdaemun has every fashion item imaginable. From shoes to hair accessories, jackets to socks - even wedding attire, there is nothing Dongdaemun doesn't have and with such inexpensive prices, it's no surprise that the place is so popular with tourists and locals alike.
It is worth bearing in mind that the complex is NOT open on Sundays.
If you get hungry, there is a food court in the shopping centre
Credit cards are accepted by most retailers. Most staff have a basic understanding of English so don't worry.
