Workwear chinos are much different than the casual chino. For starters, workwear chinos are made from a different material and have a different cut. These are made of thick fabrics and wear a bit differently than most other pants. Other cuts are usually meant to be worn on on the waist or seat area, these fit in a much more relaxed manner. This means that they give off a rougher look. However, they are designed to take a beating from everyday use. As far as brands go, look for brands with a good history in street wear fashion, for example: Levi's, Dockers, DIckies, and Ralph Lauren. As far as outfits are concerned, you may have guess by the name that these chinos are meant to be paired with other workwear attire. Because these chinos tend to be a bit bulkier, I suggest choosing the top part of your outfit carefully, otherwise you risk looking disproportional.
