Lesson 3: Purl stitch
The dramatic foil to the knit stitch is the purl stitch. If you follow the yarn, you may see that it is the exact opposite of the knit stitch in terms of the flow of the yarn. The front of the purl stitch (the 'right side') is a horizontal bar, and the back of the purl stitch (the 'wrong side') is a 'v' (see slide 5). The side with the v is known as the "knit side", while the side with the horizontal bar is the "purl side". Congratulations, with this lesson, you have learned all the skills needed to create your first knitting project!
