Sometimes you don't always want a full meal, sometimes you just want a snack or a sandwich - in such times, you should head over to the Veggie Holic Bakery. Tucked away in the side streets of Hongdae, this isn't a place you would find easily so don't forget to click through the photos as I've included a map. It's a bit of a trek but it's well worth going the extra distance. You will rewarded with vegan heaven. You'll be greeted with all sorts of pastries, muffins, cakes and even the bread comes in three different flavours (berry, fruit&nut, sweet pumpkin) It's worth bearing in mind that although they originally started out selling only 100% vegan products and most shelves are labelled as 'vegan', they have recently begun to introduce various items containing dairy products (even on the 'vegan' shelves) so if in doubt, ask! They moved location a while back and the new store has much more space - they even have a seating area upstairs so you're welcome to stay, eat your goodies and drink your tea on site! The bakery has become a lot more popular since they started selling non-vegan produce as well - I also wasn't particularly happy about the fact that you have to pay extra for non-dairy milk when buying drinks. I know it's only 500won but it just seems to go against the fact that they're a 'vegan bakery'...if anything, the dairy options should be more expensive, no? Regardless of these little quibbles, if you're vegan, vegetarian or just curious, this place is definitely worth a visit. So cool! I will definitely check this out :)
I wish I'd found this place when I was a (strict) vegetarian - It would have made my life in Korea so much easier!
