The Chinese word for name is 名字 pronounced 'míngzi'.
You will quite often hear “你叫什么名字” - but that's a lot of unfamiliar characters so let's break it down.
你 nǐ you
叫 jiào to call, to name
什么 shénme what
名字 míngzi name
lit: You call what name?
English: What is your name?
See? It's not that hard after all!
The typical way of replying is;
我叫 + Name
(wǒ jiào + míngzi)
lit: I call + Name
English: I am ....
