In honor of National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, here is a deliciously fun way to get your chocolate chip cookie fix during happy hour: Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot Glasses! And in case you think I am making this holiday up, you can find it , and a ton of other national holidays that will blow your mind at National Day Calendar online. This 4 1/2 star recipe comes from All Recipes user, Nicole Faust Hunt, called "Absolutely The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies." To make the shot glasses, you will need a 'popover' pan. Otherwise, you can make these using small cupcake pans. However, the shape of the glass will not look like a shot glass. Ingredients: 1 cup butter flavored shortening (not butter) 3/4 cup white sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 2 teaspoons Mexican vanilla extrac t2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups milk chocolate chips Chocolate candy melts (for later) Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the pan. In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla .Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips. Press the cookie dough into the popover pan bottom and sides. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Separately, melt the chocolate candy melts in a microwave or a double boiler. Once the cookie shot glasses have cooled, spoon in the candy melts, covering the bottom and inside cookie walls. This will harden relatively quick, or you can put it in the fridge. This coating will prevent liquids from being absorbed into the cookie. No worries, you won't get tipsy. If you enjoy a few shots of sake every now and then, you'll be excited to know that the warm drink actually has some amazing benefits when it comes to your skin. Yes, you read that correctly. A Japanese rice wine you usually pair with your sushi can have you waking up like Beyonce. Flawless, honey. According to our favorite girl Chrissy Teigen, she informed viewers on her daytime talk show Fab Life, that the popular skincare brand SK-II's is inspired by none other than sake. While most of us are probably wide mouthed with surprise, for the Japanese, using sake for your skin has been a tradition for years. They even go as far as bathing in the wine on New Year's Day to rid themselves of evil spirits. According the SK-II's, they use an ingredient in their skincare line called pitera ["derived from a strictly controlled natural fermentation process"] which is a strain of yeast found in the sake. How amazing and interesting is that? It's becoming a trend to find skincare products that happen to be infused with this all natural ingredient and the results happen to be amazing. Chai Tea Iced Cube Latte
This weekend, my friend had a 'Cube Latte' which is dutch coffee ice cubes with milk poured over it. The milk melts the coffee so that it becomes a prefect cafe latte! So I did some digging and found the chai latte version (because who doesn't love chai lattes) and wanted to share it with all of you! Makes about 2 cups (gluten-free, easily made vegan) 2 1/2 cups water 1 whole star anise 1 whole cinnamon stick 3-4 whole cloves 4-5 whole black peppercorns 4-5 cardamom pods, cracked 2-3 thin shavings of fresh ginger root 1/4 cup + 2 TBSP turbinado sugar (light brown sugar) 3-4 TBSP loose leaf black tea (or 4-5 tea bags) For serving: 4-5 cups whole milk (or your favorite vegan alternative – coconut would be nice!) Method 1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, whole spices, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then cover and remove from the heat. Let steep anywhere from 5-15 minutes, depending on how strong you like the spices to be. 2. Return to the heat and bring to a boil. Add the tea, remove from the heat, and let steep for another 5-7 minutes. 3. Strain out the tea and spices. If you’d like to make a regular batch of chai, add the milk and serve immediately. To make the chai iced tea cubes, let the mixture cool, then pour into an ice-cube tray and freeze. 4. To make an iced chai latte, add 2-3 ice cubes to a glass of milk (about 1/4 cup of milk per cube). The tea will get stronger the longer it sits and the more the ice cubes melt. Garnish with a dash of cinnamon, and enjoy!
