Seoul Museum of Art (서울시립미술관)
Call me old-school but I love museums and galleries. Typically exciting dates like theme parks and zoos are great but sometimes, I think it's important to just spend time getting to know each other. While that can quite easily be done in a park (accompanied by beer or makgeoli!), it's always nice to see a bit more of what your city has to offer. The Seoul Museum of Art is quite an imposing building with the plaza and bold stone entrance exuding authority but step inside through the large doors and be amazed at the amount of natural light which brightens the airy space within. With a well-established reputation as one of Korea's leading art venues, this venue is popular with tourists and locals alike. SeMA holds internationally renowned exhibitions twice a year and has hosted Chagall, Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, Pompidou, and many other famous collections. Set over three floors with six main exhibition halls, the museum even boasts a specialised art library. In one of the exhibition halls is a permanent collection titled ‘The Soul of Chun Kyung Ja,’ an exhibition of the works of the famous Korean artist Chun Kyung Ja. Stroll around the museum together, enjoy the art and the company for a great date.
