Disclosure - Latch

I loved the review of this track in the Guardian; "A lot of songs are written about lust and the immediate rush of falling head over heels in love with someone, but few seem to sum up its deliriousness as brilliantly as Latch". I love the off beat 6/8 rhythm and Smith's full bodied vocals - this song is on every playlist I have for good reason.

The 3 Countries Where Adele Isn't No.1
To tell you they're sorry for breaking your heart, Adele. WHAT!? Adele didn't achieve world domination. She may be the biggest star in ALMOST every country in the world however three countries seem to disagree. They're too preoccupied with their own music tastes and Adele just isn't one of them. In 29 international markets, Adele managed to rank No.1 in 26 of them which is basically unheard of. She's the No.1 artist in 110 countries on iTunes worldwide except for three. '3' really isn't a magic number for this pop star. Despite her record breaking album '25' : 3 million copies of the album sold in the first week of American sales alone, being the biggest-selling album released since 2011, the most sold album yearly since 2004, and broke records in how quickly her European and North American tours sold out, Adele pretty much wins...99% of the time. Thanks to Fusion.com, data was collected to show that these countries have different chart toppers and their fans wouldn't want it any other way. These countries have another preference... South Korea Why they don't prefer Adele? KPOP! Its the Korean Pop sensation that seems to dominate the music tastes of the country. The singers are hot. The music makes you want to start dancing. The music videos are strangely mesmerizing. And you've never had a party without wanting to scream at the top of your lungs to the clever lyrics that most Americans don't understand (aka Gangnam Style anyone?). Also, one must take into consideration that Koreans chart differently than most other Western countries. They have : domestic album sales, international sales, and a synthesized chart. Fusion.com found that Adele may be winning over their international chart however her streaming and album sales in South Korea are no comparison to the outstanding domestic sales of KPOP within the country. Here are Korean's top albums: - "The Most Beautiful Life," Pt 2 by the Bangtan Boys - "MATRIX" by B.A.P. - "Dear Santa - X Mas Special" by Girls Generation TTS Japan Why they don't prefer Adele? Japanese only track physical sold copies and as of now, Adele has only sold enough to make her the 7th highest album as of Dec. 7, 2015. Japanese also love KPOP but they're not as influential. It's also important to take note that digital downloads in the Japan music market outsell albums by 400% according to Fusion's research. Here are the following albums that have outsold Adele : - "For You" by Infinite - "Chandelier" by Black Number - "Sight of Blue" by Motohiro Hata Greece Why they don't prefer Adele? Blame it on the way they chart. They tracked how many '25' albums were shipped into the country instead of how many albums were sold total. Talk about bizarre. Even with Greece's adoration for American and British music, Adele only hit the No. 2 spot on Greek charts. They may track domestic and foreign music sales however their marks are harshly skewed. Sorry, Adele. The data didn't help you. Here are the albums that topped Adele: - "Ap' To Vorra Mehri to Noto" by Vasilis Karras - "M' Agapouses Ki Anthize" by Eleanora Zouganeli - "Nikos Vertis" by Nikos Vertis So really, other than MAYBE South Korea, Adele has won over everyone except for KPOP fans. There's always next time, Adele.
Music When The Lights Go Out: Songs To Help You Sleep
There is nothing worse than laying in your bed trying to fall asleep. Your eyes are darting around under the lids. The lights are dim, and yet, your brain won't shut off. The impulses are still firing and yet your body is exhausted. You want nothing more than to drift off to dreamland. Music is a huge deal as far as psychology goes. It can help with productivity, working out and even sleep. When you're having trouble drifting into subconscious bliss turn on these tunes and put your mind at ease. Before you know it, you'll be dreaming with the best of them. Instead of water sounds try... House of Cards by Radiohead Radiohead is a great band to listen to when you want to chill out entirely. Their music is cinematic and atmospheric, which is great for catching Z's. Radiohead's music fills the room, and will create a sonic coccoon for your slumber. Totally cool right? House of Cards is a slow building song with almost a lullaby effect. Thom Yorke's haunting vocal soothes as the song ebbs and flows like waves. It's totally better than contrived water sounds. Check out the OK Computer album too. It's full of grade A sleepy time tracks. Instead of rain and thunder sounds try... I Am The Rain by Peter Doherty This song always calms me down. It is melancholy at its height. It's a dreamy acoustic track that even has rain sounds in some of the background. It has a lot of elements that remind you of that chilly spring rain that comes when everything is falling down. It honestly is beautiful, and yes I have a bias towards this artist but still..you can't deny the power of a brilliant acoustic ballad as far as sleep goes. If you want more, check out his solo album Grace / Wastelands it's largely acoustic and very mellow. Great songwriting too. I've fallen asleep to this album many times. Instead of white noise try... Stay Covered by Thirty Seconds to Mars This may be a more edgy and deliberate version of Rihanna's smash hit, but it really gets the job done as far as sleep goes. Jared Leto's voice is a lot more gritty and steady than Rihanna's and the subtle backing provides a really smooth soundscape. If you let yourself concentrate on the driving beat and subtle lyrics of this song you'll fall asleep in no time. I highly recommend Thirty Seconds To Mars' album Love Lust Faith and Dreams, there are a lot of atmospheric tracks that build just like the first song on this list. I think it's good to have music that fills the room, it creates a safer space and enables your mind to shut off faster. Instead of animal sounds try... Number One Party Anthem by Arctic Monkeys This song's title couldn't be further from it's musical content. This song is a slow burner, like a candle being blown out at two A.M. It simmers as it goes on. This song is a rarity in the Monkeys' catalog. And it stands out as one of their best. Alex Turner's dreamy vocals fit perfectly with the acoustic vibe and are a sure fire way to help you get some rest. Try out their album A.M. which features a lot of slick tracks with even vocal quality and driving beats. This sort of regulation will help with sleep. What are your favorite sleepytime tracks? I'd love to hear from @nicolejb @allischaaff @terricariley @InPlainSight and @buddyesd and any other music lovers out there!

Adele's Producer Struggled With Keeping 'Hello' A Secret
"Hello from the other side." Greg Kurstin is not going to lie, it was incredibly hard to keep his lips sealed while preparing Adele's current number 1 hit, "Hello". This week, Adele's producer sat down with the Associated Press for an interview where he revealed that he struggled keeping her hit single a secret for over a year. Not only did he produce the song, but he also cowrote it. "I'm not going to lie — it's not easy to hold that information in for that long," the Grammy and Golden Globe nominated songwriter-producer said. Since last Friday, "Hello" has topped number one on the iTunes charts in over 85 countries. It also beat the Vevo record for most views in one day with 27.7 million which is more than Taylor Swift's huge hit, Bad Blood. This is Adele's first single to be released in just under four years which helped boost some of the hype around the song. "You kind of want to shout it out, run around in the streets yelling to random strangers what you've just done," he joked. Kurstin has worked with Pink, Lily Allen, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and now Adele. He is the writer of famous pop hits, "Chandelier" by Sia, "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" by Kelly Clarkson, and "Burn" by Ellie Goulding. He was supposed to work with Adele on her past hit album '21' however it never fell into place. He did contribute to Adele's two songs within the upcoming album, "Water Under the Bridge" and "Million Years Ago". "I'm still in shock, honestly. I was just pretty blown away," Kurstin said about the success of the track. She's just so wonderful to be around. She is funny and she's just so down-to-earth...You can immediately relate to her and connect with her. I really felt very comfortable around her because she makes you feel that way. She's just cool, and then she gets on the microphone and of course blows your mind." Adele's album is set to debut November 20.
Rest In Peace: David Bowie
Today we lost a truly incredible human being. I was raised on a steady supply of David Bowie thanks to my dad, and when I heard of his passing today I absolutely couldn't believe it. I used to wake up to Modern Love just about every single day in college. At the age of 69, after a battle with cancer and a fucking AMAZING life, David Bowie passed away today, January 10. Don't know much about him? You can visit this site here to see what Bowie had already accomplished at your age. I'm 23 and at my age Bowie was kicking ass, releasing his third album, and creating the iconic pop alias - Ziggy Stardust. This man changed not only the music world, but also the definitions of masculinity, sexuality, and much more. I'm honestly grateful that I grew up knowing Bowie and am indebted to the legacy he left. This gangly kid from south London grew up to change the world, and he wanted everyone to feel like they had that power too. Below are some of my favorite tracks, but I'd love to hear yours too! Heroes "We can be Heroes, just for one day We can be us, just for one day" Modern Love "Never gonna fall for Modern Love" Under Pressure "'Cause love's such an old-fashioned word And love dares you to care for The people on the edge of the night And love dares you to change our way of Caring about ourselves" Suffragette City "Oh don't lean on me man Cause you can't afford the ticket' The Man Who Sold The World "Who knows? Not me We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world" Fame "Fame makes a man take things over Fame lets him loose, hard to swallow Fame puts you there where things are hollow" Rest in peace David Bowie. You magical, marvelous you.

6 Amazing Things Adele Said In Her TIME Interview
Adele. She's the biggest name in music entering her third million dollar selling week in the United States. Her album '25' is arguably the most popular album of all time and yet Adele remains humble. She's a class act and has been enjoying her time in the spot light after taking a four year break to get a new boyfriend, have a child, quit smoking, and fix her vocal cords. She's happy and vibrant with a new look showing off her lost weight and untraditional beauty. Adele is about to set off on her European and North American tours but for now is only promoting the album, as if it doesn't have enough press as it is. TIME magazine captured Adele, a raw and unapologetic gem shining brighter than ever. On Motherhood "He makes me so proud of myself, and he makes me like myself so much. And I’ve always liked myself. I’ve never not liked myself. I don’t have hangups like that. But I’m so proud of myself that I made him in my belly. Cooked him in my belly and then he came out of me! This human who’s suddenly walking around and doing his own thing. I can’t wait to know who his best friends are going to be, who his girlfriend or his boyfriend is going to be or what movies he likes… Whatever my kid wants to do or be I will always support him no matter what." On Social Media "Privacy is key to being able to write a real record, whether people like it or not. My life has changed so much, but I’ve made the realest record I can make, and it’s the real part of me. How am I supposed to write a real record if I’m waiting for half a million likes on a f—ing photo? That ain’t real." On Emotions "The fact that I’m not shy or embarrassed to be falling apart. Everyone falls apart, I think. A lot of people try to be brave and not shed a tear. Sometimes when you know someone else feels as s— as you do, or approaches things in a certain way just like you do, it makes you feel better about yourself. Even though my music is melancholy, there’s also joy in that. I hope I do bring joy to people’s lives, and not just sadness, but I think there’s there’s a comfort in it. But I honestly don’t know. If I knew, I would bottle it, and sell it to everyone else." On Parenting "I’m very self-conscious that I have a kid, and I don’t want him being one of those dickheads, who grows up being, like, 'Driver, driver!' She snaps her fingers. 'I have no clean clothes!' Well, have you washed them? I really don’t want him growing up like that. I’m very conscious of it." On Fellow Artists "I’m not throwing shade at anybody, but when you have a six-month build up, don’t expect me to be there the day your album comes out, because I’m bored. It doesn’t matter how amazing it is. You put seven songs out. I’ve heard the album. I’ve heard everything you want to say about it. I’ve heard it all over radio. Don’t expect me to not lose interest before it’s even happened." On Anxiety "I feel uncomfortable being famous. How long should I feel like that? Because if you’re going to keep making music, there’s a 50-50 chance you’re going to be famous for the next 20 years. So do you want to be uncomfortable for 20 years, or do you want to just settle into it? I don’t want to have plastic surgery. I’m going to look like this forever. Deal with it. Once you deal with it, you feel more calm about it."
