Nick Jonas's Diabetes Story

Nick Jonas was just beginning his time in a band with his brothers when he began dealing with cold like symptoms, weight loss, bad attitude, and more symptoms. He went to the doctor with his parents, and discovered that his blood sugar was incredibly high--rapidly approaching 800. While staying in the hospital for a few days, he learned that he had diabetes, and was overwhelmed with the news. Nick has Type I diabetes, but those with Type II can still learn from his experiences! As he learned more about the disease and how to manage it, he made the decision to be very public about it, because he knew it would be encouraging for those who he was able to connect with on stage to be able to relate to his journey if they too were afflicted with the disease. As someone living with diabetes, Nick has given a lot of advice to others learning about and living with diabetes: - Understand that it is a full life change, and that it will be difficult. You will eventually adjust, even if you don't think you can survive this way at first. - Learn about how your body, specifically, reacts to exercise and carbohydrates. Even though he gets a ton of exercise on stage, he also plays golf and other games because he has found it helps him. - Rely on your family and doctors more than you want to; don't be afraid to ask for help. You don't need to go through this alone, and you shouldn't. With these tips, Nick thinks that anyone can find the perfect balance for managing their diabetes without becoming too discouraged.

I remember that this was a big deal when the story came out. I'm glad he's a good role model when it comes to diet and exercise!

Macy's Parade's Musical Moments
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is a huge hit-or-miss when it comes to music, but this year went pretty well considering the line up (no offense Sting) Billboard picked out some of the best moments so I wanted to share my thoughts on them too: - Sting: He's still got it, though its totally weird for me to see him performing in a parade setting. He was promoting his new biographical musical and looked hilarious acting like a drunken soldier. I hope there was actually beer in that mug...it looked cold in NYC. - Nick Jonas: My niece (let me rephrase that - my 22 year old niece) shrieked when he came on the screen. He's clearly still got it. His new album is getting rave reviews for a reason, it's pretty good. - The Vamps: My favorite part of this parade is watching the crap lip-syncing, so The Vamps let me down. Shame on them for actually singing and playing their instruments live, am I right?! - Taylor Swift: The new ambassador/most disliked resident of NYC had to make an appearance. To be honest I think breakfast was finally being served in my house so I missed this one... - Peter Pan Live!: So the Sound of Music last year was actually painful, but this one might be better? Might??? The song they performed was your standard catchy musical tune so at least we can expect that it would be too cringe-worthy like poor Carrie Underwood and the rest of the Von Trapps. Those were the stand-outs for me - but then again, halfway through I was seriously distracted by pancakes. Here's to another year and Happy Thanksgiving!
Jonas Brothers Reunion? It's Possible.
We won't have to wait for the year 3000 for these brothers to make a comeback! Joe Jonas has recently revealed in an interview with PrideSource that the Jonas Brothers may have a reunion sometime in the near future. While his brother Nick tours with his hit singles "Jealous" and "Levels", his other brother Kevin is enjoying the married life out of the spotlight. However, it seems like Joe is completely open to heading back to the studio to make some new music. "It's easy to say we're done and that we're never doing it again, but then we both look at each other and go, 'We obviously get along,'" Joe revealed. "And who knows -- years from now we could be like, 'All right, let's make a record.'" When Joe was asked as to whether the band will likely reunite, he responded, "It could easily happen." S.O.S people, the Joe Bros are hopefully reuniting! THIS IS HUGE! It does seem appropriate though that the brothers are contemplating a return since it's been a few years since they parted in 2013. Though Joe said time has healed the reason for their split back in the day, it's really too bad they never got to go on their tour that they cancelled two days before it was set to begin. For now, the brothers are just biding time until they feel like it's time to make a comeback. "Nick and I have a few ideas to work with other artists who we really like," Joe says. "There are a couple of artists out there that we think are really incredible that we'd like to work together with. … There could be something that comes along our way that we might say, 'You know, let's try working on this song together.'" However he's still hesitant in trying not to repeat their past troubles. "Being in the situation that my brothers and I were in for so many years… you're a bit worried or nervous that you might say or do something that could set off fireworks." But all is well and Joe is looking for a hopeful reunion, " I definitely really don't let anything hold me back these days." How would you feel about a Jonas Brother's Reunion?
Wanna see Nick Jonas in a full beard? Same.
Just wait till you see his beard... Nick Jonas is currently starring in the hit television two hour premiere for Scream Queens. It's giving every fan in the nation one more reason as to why you should tune into this Fox news show. However, the beard is really what everyone wants to see and thanks to some lucky photographers, they were able to catch Jonas in his costume for the show. Jonas, 23, recently just released his new pop single, "Levels", which instantly went to the top of the charts. But in the picture above, he doesn't look like any pop star that we would want to see on stage. He's definitely rocking the dad bod look with a completely unrecognizable beard that ages him quite well. This is definitely not the look the media is used to however it was a costume while he was on the set of Scream Queens. In the other picture, we see a freshly shaven Jonas wearing what looks to resemble collegiate or fraternity clothing. Personally, I know everyone likes that look way better. Jonas plays the role of Boone, the best friend of Chad Radwell (Glen Powell) who is the boyfriend of Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts). As you can tell, there are a lot of Hollywood big wigs starring in the show except that's not all. Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Ariana Grande, and Jaime Lee Curtis also are fellow stars. All of these girls play the roles of sorority girls who are noted as members of the "world's meanest sorority". The creators are Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, and Brad Falchuk where they have set the television show at a fictional college called Wallace University that is obviously run by the Kappa sorority. Let's just say there's going to be a lot of rough play and obviously a lot of death amongst it's campus. But who will be the first to die? "Every week, it's really like a murder mystery," he teased to ET in March. "Who's going to get knocked off? And who's the killer? And not until the last episode do you find out who it is. And everybody has the motivation to be that killer." Scream Queens premieres Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c on Fox. Will you be tuning in?
Are Kendall Jenner & Nick Jonas Dating?
The answer is NO. Nick Jonas confirmed to E! this week that he was not dating Kendall Jenner and was planning on staying single while he focuses on his career. For now, Jonas is looking for flings to be "light and casual" being able to get dinner on occasion but nothing serious. He's currently promoting his new single "Levels". "We're not dating," Nick said,"Kendall is great and naturally with her being good friends with Gigi [Hadid] and with Joe [Jonas] and Gigi dating, there are times we'll be in the same place and we all hang out." Weeks ago he shocked everyone when he and gorgeous Olivia Culpo split. She was "devastated" but recovered quickly. "I'm trying to take the time to walk out this next phase of my life and be single the right way," Nick said. "I [also] like being able to work as hard as I want. I'm incredibly driven and with all the projects I have going on, they take up a lot of my time. I like to work hard and just be as focused on work as possible." Nick will be performing "Levels" at the MTV VMA Pre-Show as well as kicking off his own tour on September 6 in Hershey, PA. He will also be on Directv Series "Kingdom" where he will be in gay sex scenes. For Jonas, he has a lot going on in his career. "Levels" is his only focus as he noted that it really hits his falsetto range, "It's a fun song to sing, but it's a hard song to sing because of the high notes," he said. "I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it. It was the perfect way to sort of cut a new path for me while still touching on some of the older sounds. I love the soul and the R&B elements that it has, but also the dance vibe. The funk side of things was really big for me." Do you think Kendall and Nick would make a cute couple?
How to Quit Smoking: 7 Best Ways According to Scientists
According to researchers, those who decide to quit smoking make up to 30 attempts Estimating the number of quit attempts it takes to quit smoking successfully in a longitudinal cohort of smokers before they succeed. This is due to the difficulties of abandoning bad habits in general, as well as with the individual characteristics of the body. The method that worked for five of your friends can misfire you. And vice versa: you can come up with your own way to tie up a smoke that categorically does not suit your friends, but it turns out to be incredibly effective specifically in your case. These 7 ways to quit smoking have proven both statistically and scientifically. Try to find yours among them. 1. Set a date to prepare Image - Source It is from this that experts recommend start a personal fight against smoking. And there are reasons for that. Most smokers have decided at least once in their lives: “Everything, from tomorrow - not a single puff!” Of course, they kept their word. Up to the first nervous shake or moment of oblivion. “Oh, I'm with a cigarette, I don’t even know how it happened ...” The problem is that smoking is not only physiological, but also psychological dependence. You may not be aware of this, but a cigarette is closely associated with significant, vital things. For example, the ability to exhale in the midst of a nervous working day. Discuss in the smoking room what cannot be discussed in the office. Talk on the phone with your loved one. Drink a cup of coffee without thinking about anything - just "sticking" into the landscape around. If you quit smoking on the same day, a gaping hole forms in the place of these significant pleasures. Everything seems to be OK, a cup of coffee in hand, but something is missing. And this deficit spoils all the pleasure. Or a little different: before a smoke break was an opportunity to take a pause relatively legally, but now you do not smoke, which means that there is no reason for a pause. And so you continue to work without interruption, exhausting the nervous system and driving yourself into a state of permanent fatigue . It is not surprising that your subconscious mind will try to return a saving cigarette, which is associated with relaxation and pleasure. And it will return, believe me. Therefore, quitting smoking from tomorrow is a controversial option. It’s better to set an exact date. Not too close to get ready, and not too far not to change your mind. The preparation is as follows. You need to untie smoking from everyday relaxation and pleasure. If you are used to combining a cup of coffee with a cigarette - drink, but without a cigarette. Promise yourself: “I will drink coffee now, and have a smoke in 15 minutes” - and keep the promise. If you need informal communication with colleagues, go for it without a cigarette, again promising yourself a smoke break some time later. When day X comes in the end, your withdrawal from quitting a cigarette will not be so strong, because at least psychologically you will be prepared for it. 2. Record triggers and exclude them from life Image - Source This recommendation is partly related to the paragraph above. The bottom line is that often we could not smoke. But there are situations that directly make us reach for the pack. These are the so-called triggers. Calculate them: for several days carefully describe all the moments when you lit a cigarette. "I drink morning coffee." "I lit up to talk with a girl." "I went out with my colleagues into the yard, I smoke for the company." Then try to modify at least those situations that are repeated day by day. For example, if you are used to smoking a cigarette with morning coffee, start drinking tea. Or go to healthy breakfasts : you hardly want to smoke with oatmeal. Try to develop a replacement strategy for each of the detected triggers. You will not get rid of the addiction right away, but you can significantly reduce the amount of nicotine. And this is a serious step towards success. 3. Replace smoking with other pleasures or employment Image - Source Perfect time to quit smoking - vacation. There are no stresses provoking to reach for a cigarette. Interesting activities are full. It’s enough not to take cigarettes with you to the rafting along a rough mountain river or go on a bus tour in Europe, where no one will brake or air the Louvre to give you the opportunity to smoke, and you will be surprised to find that you can easily do without smoke for several rich and interesting days. The main thing here is to draw the awareness from such an experience: “I do not smoke because I want, but because I am just bored and have nothing to occupy myself with.” Sounds so-so, right? Try to get rid of boredom. Look for activities that could replace cigarettes. And you quit smoking. 4. Go in for sports Image - source If we talk about substitution therapy, then exercise is one of the most healthy options. Studies show, sports activities distract from thoughts about cigarettes, cheer up and give a sense of control over oneself. After working with the barbell or swimming a kilometer or two, you begin to feel like a strong, strong-willed person who can’t completely give up on the teeth for the sake of some kind of puff. 5. Decide how to overcome the impulse Image - Source The desire to smoke most often occurs spontaneously. First, we grab a cigarette on emotions, drag ourselves on, and only then the brain yells: “What are you doing, we promised!” And it's too late. Therefore, it is extremely important to maintain a short pause between “Oh, how I want to smoke” and the click of a lighter. This pause is really small. Experts assure that an acute desire to grab a cigarette lasts no more than 3-5 minutes. Think about how you can fill this time - and try to bring this action to an automatic level. For example, pulled to nicotine - push up several times. Or a minute we stand at the bar. Or chew a hard apple. Or bite a toothpick. Or just open the window and take a few deep breaths. Any option is suitable, if only the pause placeholder was stably at hand at the right time. 6. Connect social networks Image - Source It sounds funny, but those smokers who talk about the course of their struggle with a bad habit in social networks are successful significantly more often than those who try to fight cigarette cravings offline. Thanks to Facebook or Twitter, other people seem to support you. In addition, social networks are full of motivating stories of those who have already started smoking. And the more we get to know other people's successful cases, the more we believe in our own victory. 7. Increase the content of vegetables and fruits in the diet Image - source A study conducted by scientists from the University of Buffalo (USA), proved: the more vegetables and fruits a person consumes, the easier it is for him to stop smoking. The point is that our brain often confuses cravings for tobacco with cravings for fiber. Having treated ourselves with a cabbage salad or a crispy apple, we are deceiving the body: it begins to seem to him that he has already received the desired, and therefore the cigarette seems to be irrelevant.
Benefits of Natural Medicine: Sea moss, Bladderwrack, Tumeric, Maca, and Chasteberry
Hello fam! I've been making adjustments to my lifestyle so I can have a healthier life. One big thing that I do is utilize natural alternatives to my healthcare regimen. I take vitamins and use natural ways to regulate my hormones levels since I do have POCS. I know longer have cysts but I do have the other issues as in insulin resistance, over weight, and irregular hormone levels. Again I'm not a doctor so make sure you always consult with your doctor before doing anything. I'm just sharing some things I do that has helped me greatly! I'm a texture person I just add this to my scrambled eggs. This does have a salty sea taste since it is from the ocean. I know people who purchase the actual algae and soak in hot water to drink as a tea. I purchased my sea moss gel from a legit herbal person who also can mix whatever other vitamins or herb in your batch. Tumeric When using this try to get organic in the powder form. My mom even used this for inflammation. When ingesting this make sure to add Black pepper to activate this. Basically, no use taking this if you don't add the Black pepper. The Black pepper allows our body to absorb the tumeric. I just sprinkle on food. It does stain so be careful. I use these both to regulate my hormones and this stuff is golden! I do not have the issues I had with my POCS once I changed to taking these two together. I actual purchased these in liquid form recently and love it. However, you can purchase the maca in powder form and both in supplement form.
