Ljubljana - The Capital of Slovenia
Ok guys, a lot of you know I am from Slovenia, and since the country is not widely famous, I decided to write a card to kind of present it to you. So, I hope you will like my quick presentation of a capital of Slovenia, and also a place where I spent most of my time, because of studying. Ljubljana has no world-famous attractions, which is just great: there's no need to hop from one place to another, taking photos and crossing the items on your checklist. You have all the time to stroll around and enjoy the city itself. In the summer, its center hosts a number of city sponsored events, from children workshops and public playgrounds on the streets that get closed for traffic for the occasion, to Trnfest's off-beat street performances and musical events of all genres. In autumn it shows its academic face as it fills again by students of the state's largest university to whom the city owes much of its youthful character. Cold December days are warmed by thousand of lights, the new year's decoration conceived by local artists, and by food and drinks sold from street stands on the banks of Ljubljanica river. After surviving the boring gray remaining of winter, the city erupts again with spring flowers planted on its streets and crossroads. Located at the middle of a trade route between the northern Adriatic Sea and the Danube region, it was the historical capital ofCarniola, a Slovene-inhabited part of Austria-Hungary, and it has been the cultural, educational, economic, political, and administrative center of independent Slovenia since 1991. Ljubljana ("lyoob-lyAH-nah") is a charming city full of artists, museums, and galleries. With a population of 300,000, it is one of the smallest capital cities in Europe. The main language of the city is unsurprisingly Slovenian. Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian is generally understood by most people and frequently spoken fluently by adults, especially those over the age of 40. Most of citizens speak at least some English, many, especially those under age of 30, speak it fluently. It's also worth trying any major European language you speak as you just might be understood. Triple Bridge (Tromostovje), designed by Joลพe Pleฤnik, consists of three separate picturesque bridges located next to one another. The neighboring Preลกeren square with the statue of Slovenian greatest poet France Preลกeren is the central location of downtown Ljubljana and a common meeting point. Across Ljubljanica to the left is Open Market and the Dragon Bridge. Squeezed between the castle hill and Ljubljanica river is the old town with two squares, Mestni trg (City square) with the Robba fountain and the city hall behind it, and, further on, Gornji trg (Upper square). Well preserved medieval buildings now house local designer shops, and several popular cafes and restaurants. Although they may look creepy, the perfectly safe narrow lanes lead to charming little squares and buildings. Zmajski Most (Dragon Bridge), completed in 1901, designed by Croatian Jurij Zainovich. It is guarded by four detailed dragon statues from the city's coat-of-arms. You have to be careful around the Dragon Bridge area, as it is on a major busy road just outside the pedestrian zone and near misses (and worse) between inattentive tourists and traffic are common. Ljubljana Castle - You can catch the "tourist train" from the Triple Bridge to the castle, or walk up the (quite steep) hill to the castle. The tower has magnificent views all over the city. You can also see the Sava River and Kamnik Alps in the distance. Btw, I live just under the castle, so 10 minutes walk to to top. Metelkova City - A self-declared autonomous culture place to gather for alternative artists, many subcultures and youth. What used to be a military barracks is now full of underground artists, bars and nightclubs. Metelkova can get crowded on Fridays and Saturdays. This is an awesome place to party. Tivoli Park is the main city park. You can sit down on a park bench and enjoy the sun. There is also a childern's playground and a lot of paths to walk. Ljubljana Zoo is considered one of the most beautiful Zoos of Europe. I don't this so, tho. Ljubljana Botanic Garden is the oldest Slovene cultural, scientific and educational institution. It was founded in 1810, the time of the Illyrian Provinces, as a garden of native flora and a section of the Central School (ร‰cole Centrale). In the garden is also tropical glasshouse. So, this is a quick intrudaction to the Capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana. It is a city worth visiting. It is suitable for younger and older generations. It is quite small (tho, the biggest city of Slovenia), so everything is reachable by your feet. We don't get a lot of famous people, like bands and singers here, because we are so small, tho Paris Hilton did came to Slovenia, but it was by mistake haha. I hope you like this card, I would be really happy if you like it, clip it and comment it, because I want people to see and get to know Ljubljana. And if you want it, I can post pictures and write about other beautiful, even more greeny places of Slovenia, I know @TerrecaRiley would love it! And if you guys (@marshalledgar @nicolejb @alywoah @onesmile @2littlelegs @allischaaff @NixonWoman @skee292 @shannonl5 @danidee @LauraFisher @buddyesd @LizArnone ...) every find yourself in Europe, somewhere near me, you are more than welcome to come and visit. 5 of the Most Important Reactions to the French Terrorist Attacks
2 days ago France experienced a great tragedy... Terrorists across the city killed over 130 people. With the incredibly awful events that happened this weekend, it's easy to see the ripple effect of reactions. People around the world reacted to this event strongly. And here are the most important ones... according to me. France The country effected by this tragedy is making some really big steps. Not only are they stepping up security in the city, around the country, but they are also launching airstrikes on ISIS. Recently they launched fighter jets in their biggest raids in Syria to date, targeting the Islamic Stateโ€™s stronghold in Raqqa. Over 20 bombs were dropped. Obama Obama held a press conference after the event. And evoking thoughts and feelings of the 9/11 tragedy the same thoughts change sympathy: "Weโ€™ve gone through these kinds of episodes ourselves. And whenever these kinds of attacks happened, weโ€™ve always been able to count on the French people to stand with us. They have been an extraordinary counterterrorism partner, and we intend to be there with them in that same fashion." Essentially: America stands with France. Social Media Is it just me or is your Facebook feed flooded with images, thoughts, and pictures related to the. In My twitter feed is also blown up with the hashtags. Three themes I've seen: The Pray for Paris People - these people are the vast majority, sending sentiments of sympathy. The 'If Only' People - these are the people that have to bring about another point and use France as a example. If only they had guns, if only they had better security, if only we had stopped ISIS earlier. The Other Issue People - similar to the if only people, these social media people have thoughts on another issue that they use Paris to bring up. What about the refugees! What about the attack in Beirut! What about... There also seems to be a big change in profile pictures. (Thanks Facebook!) What are your thoughts on the profile picture change? Anonymous A hacker group, Anonymous came forward stating they are officially in War with ISIS. Ok, so I'm normally not a fan of hackers but they seem like they are terrifying. And many news organizations are intrigued by their decision. To date these self-proclaimed "hacktivists" claim to have destroyed 149 Islamic State-linked websites and flagged roughly 101,000 Twitter accounts and 5,900 propaganda videos. Many people around the world are questioning this groups capabilities, but who knows? It sure is fun to get behind a group of masked hackers. Helpers Around the World A famous Mr. Rogers quote is, "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'" So where are the helpers from the Paris Attacks? Red Cross went into full swing helping and providing medical assistance for those in the disaster. The French National Blood Service took donations outside of France. Taxi cabs in Paris offered free rides home. Little helpers all over the city put up signs and candles. #PorteOuverte was the hashtag used to reach out and house those Parisians all over the world. And these won't be the only reactions. I'm sure we will experience more in the future. And we have our own reaction. @ButterflyBlu @InPlainSight @carenabobo @Animaniafreak @alywoah @gabbycalzada @LeticiaMendez @vonchio @LunaCordero @ImUrBestFriend @netchtiBates @fallenangeljess @kat121 @MarjorieSound @vonchio @kanghyobin @KalyanMadoori @starsun7 @CreeTheOtaku @shantalcamara @christianmordi @KathyCrew @TessStevens @TingThang @CassidyRoush @jorekawaii What was your reaction to the French terrorist attacks? What are your thoughts on these reactions?

This French City Is (Literally) Powered By Cheese.
By now, you've heard of alternative electricity sources like wind, water, and solar power, but have you ever heard of using cheese? For one French city, cheese production is responsible for a considerable amount of their electricity. But how exactly do they do it? When Albertville, a city in Beaufort's dairy manufacturing region, makes its cheese, they use special equipment to convert the whey's methane gas emissions into pure energy that can be used to power 7% of the region's electricity. According to the Smithsonian, this is enough to power roughly 1,500 of 20,000 homes. That may not sound like much, but when you consider its potential, the city might just be onto a new avenue for renewable power sources. In the picture above, you can see the Valbio power plant that produces the aforementioned 'cheese power'. While it's the largest of the company's dairy-powered energy plants (and the largest of such plant on Earth), it's not the only dairy plant around. The same company began building the generators over a decade ago and set up similar plants in Europe and Canada - with more to come! In fact, those in the States might be surprised to know that the Fage brand's Greek yogurt also plays a part in powering the region from where it's produced. When Fage is made at its Albany-based plant, the whey used is later pumped to a wastewater plant to produce energy from its fermentation. Pretty cool, huh? So I hope that all of you who decided you'd like to cut down on the dairy going into the New Year re-embrace your love for all things covered in cheese. You're doing it for the greater good of the environment. It's your personal duty to eat tons of cheese. Let me know what you think about this new, cheesy fuel source in the comments below. Paris- the city of Love
Paris, the City of Light (la Ville Lumiรจre) and Capital of Fashion, it is home to the world's finest and most luxurious fashion designers and cosmetics, such as Chanel No.5, Christian Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Guerlain, Lancรดme, L'Orรฉal, Clarins, etc. A large part of the city, including the River Seine, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. "Paris - "the city of Love" is just a lie that the French aims to attract more tourists into this city", during a dinning with my French roommate, who is from Southern of France. Whether it is true or not, I would recommend you to travel to Paris with friends or other partners. There are 2 reason for it: 1st is not to feel lonely in this romantic city :), 2nd to avoid all those scam that set up everywhere in this beloved city :) . How to get to Paris when you are in Europe? There are plenty of cheap airlines in Europe that you can take advantage of : Jetair, RyanAir, Blue1, so on and so forth. But for me the best way to travel in Europe and to get to Paris is by train :) (Eventhough the TVG; express train system in France is kind of pricy). There is not much good hostels in Paris, so it is better that you book in advance, or try Airbnb, or couchsurfing. For me I did try couchsurfing when I am in this city, and the experience was amazing :). It will take me day to write about my travel experience in Paris. So if you have any questions or need any tips, just send me a message. I will hit you right back ;D !
