He also describes what types of food they eat and how much of it they eat. Professional cyclists typically burn around 9000 calories a day during any big bicycle race. In order for them to eat all the nutrients and calories they need, the cyclists eat about 1kg of food for dinner.

9000 calories?!! That's insane. My uncle used to do Iron Man and I remember his diet during training was basically eating ALL THE TIME.
