Essays are scholarship works of writing. They are typically in the author's point of view, but since the definition isn't standardized, it doesn't have to be. Sometimes literature essays are called articles, pamphlets or short stories. There are personal essays in which the author reflects on parts of their lives through anecdotes or description. Objective essays aren't about personal experiences, but about some literary, political or other theme. They aim to pass judgement upon parts of this theme in some way. The abstract essay is just that: a higher level of abstraction. Essays, as you likely know, are also used in school environments as a type of free response question.
