Staying Present in a World of Information Overload
Maria Popova shared some awesome insight about the difficulties of being ambitious, but focused and yourself, in a world where information is literally constantly at your fingertips in this interview with 99u. Let me share two of my favorite quotes; I hope they resonate with you, but I really recommend you read the entire article for a fresh take on learning to BE not to just stick to the SHOULDS! "I think that word “should” in our internal narratives is very toxic—this notion of, “what should I be doing?” and it’s always pegged to some sort of expectation, whether it’s self-imposed or external or a combination of the two." "The real work is how not to hang your self-worth, your sense of success and merits, the fullness of your heart, and the stability of your soul on those numbers."

I remember panicking as a college freshman without an internship thinking that I was never going to get a job because successful people should have had an internship experience by now. Turns out, everything worked out for me just in a round-about way. The world is changing so fast, there are no more "shoulds" - make your own rules!

I hate that people try to depend on others to balance their personal experience: every person is going to look and be different, so measure your success on yourself, not on the length of the list of your "experience"

not what should I be doing, but what do I WANT to be doing sounds better to me!
