OFF THE RECORD BEAUTY 부끄럽지만 궁금하고 두렵지만 도전하고 싶은 모든 것, 오프 더 레코드 뷰티 시작은 이러했다. “형, 브라질리언 왁싱 해 봤어? 그게 얼마나 좋냐면……” 얼마 전, 브라질리언 왁싱을 한 동생 녀석이 브라질리언 왁싱에 대해 열을 올렸다. ‘브라질리언 왁싱’이란 음부 제모를 의미한다. 여성들이 여름 철, 비키니 사이로 삐져 나오는 털이 신경 쓰일 때 받는 왁싱 중 하나인데 요즘은 그루밍 족 열풍으로 남자들이 더 많이 하는 추세라고. 실제로 서양의 경우 국부 주변의 위생과, 세균 번식 방지, 연인 관계에서 에티켓으로 여기는 경우가 많다고 한다. 얼마 남지 않은 크리스마스를 앞두고 자의반 타의반으로 나의 전방과 후방을 맡기게 되었다. 남녀의 차이를 느껴 보기 위해 호기심 넘치는 나와 행동파 뷰티 디렉터가 함께 도전하기로 했다. 남자 브라질리언 왁싱 직접 체험해보니 Men’s PROFILE 나이 l 24세 毛 스타일 l 일반 남자들에 비해 숱이 적다. 굵기는 보통! 시술 중 가장 기억에 남는 말 “여기가 제일 아파요.” 생애 첫 브라질리언 왁싱을 위해 찾아간 곳은 ‘청담 마르지아 힐링 스파.’ 호기심은 앞서는데 왠지 털을 뽑아야 한다는 두려움 때문에 통증이 적은 왁싱 숍을 수소문했다. 이 곳에서 진행되는 ‘슈가링 브라질리언 제모’는 여타 왁싱에 비해 통증이 현저히 적다는 것이 장점. 시술 할 때는 머리 속에 아무 생각이 나지 않았다. 따로 마련된 샤워 부스에서 간단하게 씻고 침대에 올라갔을 때부터 정신이 혼미했다. 관리사 선생님이 들어왔을 때와 그 곳을 덮은 천이 걷히는 순간 온 몸이 경직되는 것은 어쩔 수가 없더라. 다리 털 한 뭉치가 뽑히는 느낌!’ 그 곳을 처음 본 선생님은 일반 남자들에 비해 숱이 적고 털의 굵기는 보통이라고 했다. 그래도 여자보다 일반적으로 남자의 시술 시간이 좀 더 길다고. 시술이 시작되고 미지근한 슈가링 왁스가 살과 맞닿았다. 가장 풍성한 위 부분을 가위로 잘라내고 이후부턴 뽑히지 않으려는 털과 뽑으려는 선생님 사이에서 많이 아팠다. 털이 난 부분에 슈가링 왁스를 붓는데 일반 왁스와 달리 우드 스틱을 이용하지 않아 스틱을 재사용할 일이 없어 훨씬 위생적이다. 왁스가 굳으면 “좀 아픕니다.”라는 말이 들리고 “촥!”이라는 소리가 20~30분째 반복되었다. 차마 눈을 뜰 수는 없지만 눈 앞에 불꽃이 튀는 기분이다. “여기가 제일 아파요.” 한 쪽 다리를 접고 사타구니 깊숙한 곳에 털을 제거할 때는 소리도 못 내고 두 손에 라이언 인형이라도 쥐고 싶었다. 처음 느껴보는 쾌적함, 신세계가 따로 없네! 마지막까지 뽑히지 않은 털들은 족집게를 이용해 말끔하게 제거하고 나니 그야말로 신세계. 마지막에 진정을 돕는 젤까지 바르고 나오는데 처음 경험 해보는 쾌적함이다. 그 곳도(?) 확실히 편안하고 많이 움직여도 땀이 차지 않고 개운한 느낌이 든다. 다만, 화장실을 갈 때 마다 깜짝 놀라곤 하는데 깔끔한 기분을 느끼고 싶다면 당장 고! 게다가 여자 친구가 귀엽다고 했으니 이 정도면 성공적이지 않은가? 이번 크리스마스 이브 날, 이 귀여움을 좀 더 어필해 볼 생각이다! 여자 브라질리언 왁싱 직접 체험해보니 Women’s PROFILE 나이 l 29세 毛 스타일 l 모량이 적고 굵기도 가는 편. 시술 중 가장 기억에 남는 말 “뒤로 돌아누우세요.” 브라질리언 왁싱 체험은 생각지도 못한 경험이었다. 주기적으로 브라질리언 왁싱을 하는 친구에게 물었더니 돌아온 대답은 안해본 사람은 있어도 한번만 한 사람은 없다는 것. 특히 그 날에도 훨씬 위생적이라 남자친구가 그 곳을 보고 놀라던 말든 꾸준히 숍에 들른다고 했다. 게다가 성적 패티쉬를 자극하기에도 좋다고. 그래도 지워지지 않는 걱정은 시술 할 때 포즈였다. 누군가에게 다리와 다리 사이를 오픈한다는 것도 민망한데 심지어 요가에서 할 법한 요염한 고양이 자세를 해야 하다니 지금이라도 안 한다고 할까? 왁스에 따라 통증도 참을 만하다! 시술 전 간단한 차트를 작성한다. 제모 경험이 있는지, 1년 안에 피부과 시술을 받았는지, 알러지 반응이 있는지 등 왁싱으로 인한 피부 자극을 막기 위해서다. 별다른 문제가 없기 때문에 불행하게도 용기내서 해야만 했다. 내가 선택한 것은 ‘슈가링 브라질리언 제모’ 올 누드. 올누드 왁싱은 털을 한 올도 남기지 않고 항문까지 이어지는 모든 털을 제거하는 것이다. 브라질리언 왁싱이 처음이라면 이후에 나는 털을 부드럽게 만드는 올 누드를 추천한다고 오윤서 원장이 말했다. 먹을 수 있는 천연 재료인 슈가링 왁스는 일반적인 뜨거운 왁스와 달리 부드럽고 미지근해 심리적인 거부감까지 덜어줬다. 이후에 엉킨 털들을 가위로 자른 후, 슈가링 왁스와 슈가로 털을 제거하기 시작했다. 떼어낼 때는 화끈거렸지만 모량이 적고 부드러워 생각보다 수월하게 끝! 아픔보다 민망한 포즈와의 전쟁! 올 누드 왁싱은 전체에 털을 제거해야 하기 때문에 시술의 편의를 위해 다리를 마름꼴로 만들어야 한다. 초반에는 한 쪽만 접었는데 두 발바닥을 맞닿는 완벽한 마름모 꼴을 만들었다. 목욕탕 세신받을 때 예고 없는 어택(!) 보다 괜찮다고 생각했는데 슈가링 왁싱이 거의 끝나갈 무렵, “돌아 누우세요.” 한마디에 한순간 무너졌다. 뒤로 돌아누웠을 땐, 털이 뽑히는 아픔 쯤은 잊을 수 있다. (빨리 끝내고 싶으니까) 그럼 통증은 없었냐고? 가장 아팠던 것은 여전히 뽑히지 않은 털들을 하나씩 뽑아냈을 때. 연신 잘 참는다고 칭찬 받았지만 족집게로 짧은 털들을 뜯어 낼 땐 정말 ‘악’ 소리를 낼 수 밖에 없었다. 보이지 않는 부위라도 자신감 업! 왁싱 후, 간단한 화이트닝 케어를 받았다. 여자들의 경우 패드나 속옷에 피부가 쉽게 맞닿아 색소침착이 쉽기 때문. 보이지 않는 부위지만 자기만족이랄까? 기분이 좋아졌다. 화이트닝 케어 제품을 바르고 5분~10분 정도 지난 후 씻어내는데 예전과 다른 뽀얀 피부를 보니 왠지 귀여웠다. 처음엔 어딘가 허전했지만 시술을 끝난 직후는 목욕을 하고 난 듯한 상쾌함을 느낄 수 있다. 그리고 크리스마스에 떠나는 여행지에서 비키니 라인을 신경 쓰지 않아도 되니 미용은 물론, 위생적인 면, 기분 전환까지 한번 더 도전 해봐도 좋을 듯! 더 자세한 내용은 <아이즈매거진> 링크에서
