Facundo the Great - Teachers Americanizing students' names
This story is so great!!! I can definitely relate to it. Facundo the Great, whose name was an exception to school teachers creating Anglicized names for Mexican-American Students.

My friend's name is Duy and it is correctly pronounced more like "Euuuy" in Vietnamese, but her first grade teacher called her "doo-ee" so it stuck.

@galinda had many Vietnamese friends growing up and our teachers were never able to pronounce names either :/
