The best neck tattoo ideas for men

People who are heavily tattooed know neck tattoos aren't something to be taken lightly.

A neck tattoo is one of the biggest tattoo commitments. You are highly visible - and, at times, stigmatized - when you have tattoos on your neck. However, there is no denying that a neck tattoo is undeniably badass.

However, those with neck tattoos know they shouldn't be taken lightly. Not only are neck tattoos painful, but they're usually done when you've run out of space on your arms, legs, and torso. Many tattoo artists refuse to tattoo highly visible places like the hands and neck until there is very little room left.

To be fair, your first tattoo probably shouldn't be on your neck. Even if you already have a lot of tattoos, these 40 neck tattoo ideas may help you narrow down your choices.

Tattoos on the neck were once associated with criminals and gangs, but today they symbolize boldness, strength, and masculinity. This is because tattoos on your neck are usually difficult to conceal under clothes. Additionally, the neck is one of the most painful places to ink. Take a look at these options to find the perfect neck tattoo that represents your personality.

Back Neck Tattoo

A back of the neck tattoo is one of the most popular tattoo placements for men. The design suits a smaller or subtler design, making it ideal for your first neck tattoo. You can cover it with a collared shirt or your hair. You can connect a shoulder or back tattoo to a back neck tattoo, however, if you have a shoulder or back tattoo.

It is one of the most popular places to get a neck tattoo on the back of the neck. In this area, you can get smaller tattoos and designs, but can also get larger and edgier designs if you desire. When (and if) necessary, the back of the neck is the best place to get a neck tattoo that you can easily cover. First-time neck tattoos are particularly prone to this.

By placing a tattoo here, you can expand it to the upper back and shoulders, or you could even connect it to existing tattoos in those areas. Additionally, back neck tattoos are gorgeous.

Small Neck Tattoo

A neck tattoo can be any size, but small tattoos suit this placement particularly well. You can choose from Roman numerals, a single word, or a simple symbol. If you are getting your first neck tattoo or if you have a low pain threshold, but still love the look of neck tattoos, a smaller inking would be a great choice.

The edgy look of neck tattoos is perfect for someone who has an adventurous spirit. When you decide to go ahead and get a neck tattoo after weighing all the pros and cons, you're probably looking for great ideas. I'm here to help. Within the following ultimate guide, you'll see tons of designs, styles, and learn more about their meanings. Take a look at this guide for inspiration for your new ink.

Neck Tattoos for Men Design Ideas.

Every neck tattoo is unique. There are delicate and small tattoos, as well as large and noticeable designs. It is entirely up to you and your preferences how you design and place your neck tattoo.

It is a good idea to speak with your tattoo artist first. Thin skin covers the neck so it is a delicate area. Your tattoo artist can help you decide where to place a particular tattoo or how big to make your neck tattoo. As a result, tattoo artists are experts at helping you get the best results, so you might want to include them in your decision-making process. Take a look at some of the different neck tattoo types and styles for men below.

Front Neck Tattoo

It is an excellent place for you to get an eye-catching tattoo on your neck. A piece of art or a meaningful piece of furniture will always be visible to other people, making it a perfect place to install it. Because of the thin skin and many nerve endings on the front of your neck, getting a tattoo can be painful.

So I know in South Korea tattoos are still somewhat taboo and a very sensitive subject but as a girl with tattoos this is a topic I'm very passionate about. As I stated I have 3 tattoos so obviously I'm all for them. I don't like how they have such a bad stigma because now a days they're a form of expression and they're art. They're a form of strength, encouragement, reminders and memorials. So I kinda wanted to do a card all about k-idols (the ones I could find anyway) who went against the grain and got tattoos despite the way they're viewed. #1 Winner's Mino Meaning: "then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you." A¬†tattoo¬†is a form of¬†body modification¬†made by inserting ink, dyes, and/or¬†pigments, either indelible or temporary, into the¬†dermis¬†layer of the¬†skin¬†to form a design. The art of¬†making tattoos¬†is known as¬†tattooing. Tattoos comprise three broad categories: purely decorative (with no specific meaning), symbolic (with a specific meaning pertinent to the wearer), and pictorial (a depiction of a specific person or item). In addition, tattoos can be used for identification such as ear tattoos on¬†livestock¬†as a form of¬†branding. If you are looking for a collection of the best tattoo ideas check out¬† The word tattoo, or tattow in the 18th century, is a loanword from the Samoan word tatau, meaning "to strike".[2][3] The Oxford English Dictionary gives the etymology of tattoo as "In 18th c. tattaow, tattow. From Polynesian (Samoan, Tahitian, Tongan, etc.) tatau. In Marquesan, tatu." Before the importation of the Polynesian word, the practice of tattooing had been described in the West as painting, scarring, or staining.[4] The etymology of the body modification term is not to be confused with the origins of the word for the military drumbeat or performance ‚ÄĒ see military tattoo. In this case, the English word tattoo is derived from the Dutch word taptoe.[5] It is called Tisheret and Washem in the Amazigh (Berber) culture. Copyrighted tattoo designs that are mass-produced and sent to tattoo artists are known as "flash", a notable instance of industrial design.[6] Flash sheets are prominently displayed in many tattoo parlors for the purpose of providing both inspiration and ready-made tattoo images to customers. The Japanese word irezumi means "insertion of ink" and can mean tattoos using tebori, the traditional Japanese hand method, a Western-style machine or any method of tattooing using insertion of ink. The most common word used for traditional Japanese tattoo designs is horimono. Japanese may use the word tattoo to mean non-Japanese styles of tattooing. British anthropologist Ling Roth in 1900 described four methods of skin marking and suggested they be differentiated under the names "tatu", "moko", "cicatrix", and "keloid". The first is by pricking that leaves the skin smooth as found in places including the Pacific Islands. ¬†The second is a tattoo combined with chiseling to leave furrows in the skin as found in places including New Zealand. The third is scarification using a knife or chisel as found in places including West Africa.¬† The fourth and the last is scarification by irritating and re-opening a preexisting wound, and re-scarification to form a raised scar as found in places including Tasmania, Australia, Melanesia, and Central Africa. Ancient tattooing was most widely practiced among the¬†Austronesian people. It was one of the early technologies developed by the Proto-Austronesians in¬†Taiwan¬†and coastal¬†South China¬†prior to at least 1500 BCE, before the Austronesian expansion into the islands of the¬†Indo-Pacific.¬†It may have originally been associated with¬†headhunting. Tattooing traditions, including facial tattooing, can be found among all Austronesian subgroups, including¬†Taiwanese Aborigines,¬†Islander Southeast Asians,¬†Micronesians,¬†Polynesians, and the¬†Malagasy people. Austronesians used the characteristic hafted skin-puncturing technique, using a small mallet and a piercing implement made from¬†Citrus¬†thorns, fish bone, bone, and oyster shells. Ancient tattooing traditions have also been documented among¬†Papuans¬†and¬†Melanesians, with their use of distinctive¬†obsidian¬†skin piercers. Some archeological sites with these implements are associated with the Austronesian migration into¬†Papua New Guinea¬†and¬†Melanesia. But other sites are older than the Austronesian expansion, being dated to around 1650 to 2000 BCE, suggesting that there was a preexisting tattooing tradition in the region. Among other ethnolinguistic groups, tattooing was also practiced among the¬†Ainu people¬†of Japan; some¬†Austroasians¬†of¬†Indochina;¬†Berber¬†women of¬†Tamazgha¬†(North Africa);[44]¬†the¬†Yoruba,¬†Fulani¬†and¬†Hausa¬†people of¬†Nigeria;¬†Native Americans¬†of the¬†Pre-Columbian Americas;¬†and¬†Picts¬†of¬†Iron Age Britain.
