The Texas School Book Depository, the Grassy Knoll, and Elm Street as it curves down to the railroad lines at Dealey Plaza would be unremarkable if John F. Kennedy wasn't really assassinated on November 22, 1963. Dealey Plaza's cityscape has remained largely intact since it was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1993. It's difficult not to be moved when standing on the bank where Abraham Zapruder took his famous photograph, looking up at sighting the X that marks the place where JFK was assassinated from the corner sixth-floor window from which Lee Harvey Oswald fired his three rounds was struck by the fatal second bullet, and looking up at the six-story corner window where Lee Harvey Oswald fired his three rounds. Visit Kimbell Art Museum The Kimbell Art Museum has established itself as one of the world's best little museums. The building itself is a marvel of beauty, including vaults and skylights, as well as a sculpture garden built by Isamu Noguchi, a well-known Japanese-American artist. Regardless of its small size, this museum is a must-see for any art enthusiast: The permanent collection includes works by painters ranging from El Greco and Rembrandt to Monet and Picasso and spans centuries. Recent visitors claim that the addition of the Piano Pavilion (named after Italian architect Renzo Piano, who helped create Paris' iconic Centre Pompidou) has made the Kimbell feel less confined, although the original Kahn building, which was built in 1972, was already impressive. How to Change Seat on American Airlines
When you book a flight, one of the first things you're asked to do is choose your seat. But how do you know which seat is right for you? When traveling on a basic economy fare, you'll be assigned a seat at check-in or at the gate. The main cabin requires you to pay for advanced seat assignments or to do it for free at check-in 48 hours before departure on domestic flights or 24 hours before departure on international flights. But if you're in the mood to get your preferred seat when booking your ticket, here's what you need to know about the different options. There are a few points to Change Seat on American Airlines will depend on two different criteria. The class of service you purchased Your status with American Airlines. If you have no status with the airline: If you have purchased First or Business class tickets, you can change your seat to any other seat within this cabin by visiting AA.com and entering your ticket locater and name. If you’ve purchased a regular economy ticket (not a Basic Economy), you will be able to select from seats located in the rear of the aircraft. Or, you can purchase an upgrade to a seat up front (reserved for those with status) or to one that includes extra legroom (Main Cabin Extra). If you purchase a Basic Economy ticket, you will not be able to choose your seat. You’ll typically receive your seat assignment at check-in or at the gate. If you have Gold status and purchase a regular economy ticket, you’ll be able to sit in the priority section of economy on your flight (but not Main Cabin Extra). If you want access to the Main Cabin Extra seats, you’ll get a 50% discount, but only if there is space available 24 hours before departure. If you have status as Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Platinum Exec (50k to 100k miles a year and $6k to $12k spend), you get free access to any upfront economy seats and MCE seats. Basic economy still has no access regardless of status. Note, it’s possible if you have no status and you purchased a regular economy ticket that you see no seats available for selection. This typically happens when the flight is oversold, or fully sold, and the seats up front are the only ones available and being held for status members. Check back on the website regularly to see if any regular seats open up for you to reserve. If you are booking basic economy tickets, you will NOT be able to select seats together unless you pay for them. Basic economy fares DO NOT INCLUDE FREE SEAT SELECTION. If you purchase tickets and are not on the same reservation or do not select seats ahead of time, that is your fault. If your family is flying together, and you have purchased tickets for all family members, you may want to ask if the airline will be able to seat your family members together. Remember if you want to sit together you need to purchase tickets that are on the same locator. You cannot just purchase tickets all on the same locator. What you need to do is select seats ahead of time that are together. Whether or not you have to pay for these seats depends upon what seats are available at the time of booking. If you purchased seats ahead of time and then were split up, you definitely have a cause to complain. In this case, if you paid extra for a seat and did not sit in that seat, you can request a refund from American. But if you did not pay, did not select your seats and then as a group of 4 or 5 people expect to sit together when you go to check in, that is your fault and NOT THE AIRLINES. Sitting in the wrong airplane seat isn't ideal for anyone; it can be a hassle to change your seat, but that doesn't mean you can't do anything about it. We provide a guide on how to solve your issue quickly on your own and also list the fastest way you can contact the airline's agents when need be. American Airlines charges a fee for seat selection during booking, but disabled people can select a seat for free. However, you may choose a place and then decide to change it after booking. Whether you want extra legroom, a prime seat, a preferable window seat, or a change from one class of service to another, here's how to change your seat selection. How to Choose Seat on American Airlines Choosing your seat on American Airlines couldn't be easier. You can do it when you buy your ticket, at the airport or online through your reservation once you've checked in. Here's how to choose your seat on American Airlines. Choose a Seat When You Book Your Ticket If you want to choose your seat ahead of time, the easiest way is to pick a seat when you book your ticket. The website will show you a map of available seats on the plane, and you can pick one that works for you. Choose a Seat at the Airport If you don't get your seat assignment in advance or if you want to change it, visit the airline's kiosk at the airport to see what's available. Selecting and changing seats is simple with the kiosk, but remember there are no guarantees that a good seat will be available when you arrive at the airport. When you book your flight on American Airlines, you can choose your seat based on the type of experience you want to have. Whether you are looking for extra room or peace and quiet, these tips will help you pick your perfect seat. Traveling with an infant If you are traveling with an infant, American Airlines offers bassinets for babies under 2 years old who weigh less than 20 pounds. If you require a bassinet, call the airline after booking your flight since they are limited and can't be reserved in advance. Extra room If you need more legroom, the best place to sit is in the exit row, which has at least 7 inches of extra legroom compared with other rows. There is a fee of $39-$99 per person for these seats, depending on the flight duration and time of year. Exit row seats also cannot be occupied by anyone under 15 years old or someone traveling with an infant. The Main Cabin Extra section is located at the front of the economy cabin and has approximately 6 inches more legroom than other economy seats. These seats come with a fee starting at $9 per person for flights over 1 hour and 15 minutes long. For an ordinary economy seat but with extra room to stretch out, choose a seat Choose a Seat Online After Checking In After checking in online and getting your boarding pass, log into American Airlines' AAdvantage website (link in Resources). Click on "My Trips" and find your reservation number. Then click "Change Seats," select the one you want and print out the new boarding pass. This option is available up until 30 minutes before departure. Where can I see seat maps for flights? When you book a flight operated by American Airlines, you'll see the seat map after you choose your flights. Why couldn’t I choose seats when I booked my flights? If you are unable to choose seats when you book, check back closer to departure or American will assign you a seat when you check in. My flights are confirmed, why can’t I reserve my seats? American Airlines reserves some seats until the day of departure to allow AA airport personnel to accommodate passenger needs. If you are unable to reserve a seat at the time of booking, you may get your seat when you check in for your flight. If you want a seat closer to the front of the plane, book as early as possible. Seats become available as they are purchased by other travelers. You can visit aa.com frequently to check the seats that are still available for your flight. What happens to my seat if there is a schedule or equipment change? American Airlines will make every effort to reseat passengers in the same seats. When this isn’t possible, we’ll attempt to seat you in a like seat. We appreciate your cooperation when special circumstances won’t allow us to reseat you in your original assigned seat. How to change your seat on American Airlines: Step-by-step American Airlines allows customers to pick their seats during or after booking a flight, and those who wish to select seats before purchasing tickets may do so by following these steps: Go to aa.com and then click on the My Trips section. Enter the booking number and last name. Select your booking and then look for any available seat. Now you can pick a seat and follow the on-screen instructions. You should be able to see a list of vacant seats with the prices inclusive Choose the one that you prefer and then click on Continue Here, you'll receive a prompt to pay for the seat change or upgrade. Make the payment by keying in your credit card details just as the system directs you to After payment is complete, you will get a confirmation message within a few hours
Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah
The ksar, a group of earthen buildings surrounded by high walls, is a traditional pre-Saharan habitat. The houses crowd together within the defensive walls, which are reinforced by corner towers. Ait-Ben-Haddou, in Ouarzazate province, is a striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco. Located in the foothills on the southern slopes of the High Atlas in the Province of Ouarzazate, the site of Ait-Ben-Haddou is the most famous ksar in the Ounila Valley. The Ksar of Aït-Ben-Haddou is a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture. The ksar is a mainly collective grouping of dwellings. Inside the defensive walls which are reinforced by angle towers and pierced with a baffle gate, houses crowd together - some modest, others resembling small urban castles with their high angle towers and upper sections decorated with motifs in clay brick - but there are also buildings and community areas. It is an extraordinary ensemble of buildings offering a complete panorama of pre-Saharan earthen construction techniques. The oldest constructions do not appear to be earlier than the 17th century, although their structure and technique were propagated from a very early period in the valleys of southern Morocco. The site was also one of the many trading posts on the commercial route linking ancient Sudan to Marrakesh by the Dra Valley and the Tizi-n'Telouet Pass. Architecturally, the living quarters form a compact grouping, closed and suspended. The community areas of the ksar include a mosque, a public square, grain threshing areas outside the ramparts, a fortification and a loft at the top of the village, an caravanserai, two cemeteries (Muslim and Jewish) and the Sanctuary of the Saint Sidi Ali or Amer. The Ksar of Ait- Ben-Haddou is a perfect synthesis of earthen architecture of the pre-Saharan regions of Morocco. Criterion (iv): The Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou is an eminent example of a ksar in southern Morocco illustrating the main types of earthen constructions that may be observed dating from the 17th century in the valleys of Dra, Todgha, Dadès and Souss. Criterion (v): The Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou illustrates the traditional earthen habitat, representing the culture of southern Morocco, which has become vulnerable as a result of irreversible socio-economic and cultural changes Integrity (2009) All the structures comprising the ksar are located within the boundaries of the property and the buffer zone protects its environment. The earthen buildings are very vulnerable due to lack of maintenance and regular repair resulting from the abandonment of the ksar by its inhabitants. The CERKAS (Centre for the conservation and rehabilitation of the architectural heritage of atlas and sub-atlas zones) monitors, with difficulty, respect for the visual integrity of the property. Authenticity (2009) In comparison to other ksour of the region, the Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou has preserved its architectural authenticity with regard to configuration and materials. The architectural style is well preserved and the earthen constructions are perfectly adapted to the climatic conditions and are in harmony with the natural and social environment. The large houses in the lower part of the village, with well conserved decorative motifs, are regularly maintained. The construction materials used still remain earth and wood. The inclination to introduce cement has so far been unsuccessful, thanks to the continued monitoring of the «Comité de contrôle des infractions» (Rural Community, Town Planning Division, Urban Agency, CERKAS). Only a few lintels and reinforced concrete escaped its vigilance, but they have been hidden by earthen rendering. Particular attention is also paid to doors and windows giving on to the lanes, to ensure that the wood is not replaced by metal. Protection and management requirements (2009) Protection measures essentially relate to the different laws for the listing of historic monuments and sites, in particular the Law 22-80 concerning Moroccan heritage. The Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou currently has a five-year management plan (2007-2012). This management plan is the result of two years of reflection and workshops involving all the persons and institutions concerned with the future of the site, in particular the local populations. The recommendations of this plan are being implemented. Furthermore, two management committees have been established (a local committee and a national one) in which all the parties are represented and cooperate in decision-making. As well as managing the property, CERKAS ensures coordination in the implementation of this management plan. visit our site for more informations...

The Weird Road Signs Of California
@virginvingler made a pretty hilarious card earlier today of all the different road signs that are definitely worth a brow-raise. This made me think of all the strange road signs in Southern California that have become something of a major part of the local culture! Pretty much all of these signs can be seen today, so if you're interested in hunting these down yourself, you can definitely come visit California and find them yourselves! Zzyzx Road Location: Mojave Desert, Interstate 15 According to Wikipedia (yes, it has its own Wiki page): "The made-up name Zzyzx was given to the area in 1944 by Curtis Howe Springer, claiming it to be the last word in the English language." Anyone want to guess how it's pronounced? Weed, California Location: Siskiyou County When you run a town with a name like 'Weed', you've got to have a sense of humor. Needless to say, the city limit sign is the biggest dad joke ever: "Weed Like To Welcome You". Stoners LOVE passing through. Not really sure why. Immigrant Crossing Location: San Ysidro Border Crossing, Interstate 5 Yes, in San Diego, you'll occasionally see a sign warning you that illegal immigrants may be trying to flee across the freeway nearby the county's borders. This sign is so random that people outside of the state usually think it's Photoshopped. "Cross The Street, Then Update Facebook." Location: CSU East Bay campus, Hayward When this sign was posted outside CSU East Bay, its snark created something of a media frenzy. Local public info officer Frank Holland (aka the guy who made it) used to work in marketing. He also created the following: "35 - It's a speed limit, not a suggestion." "Downhill: Use eyes, brakes, brain." It seems one does not simply turn that off. Surfer Crossing Location: Pretty much any and all beach towns Live along the Southern California coastline? Chances are you've seen this sign quite a few times in a few different variations. It's become so synonymous with California life that you can also find them sold at various souvenir shops! I hope you guys got a good laugh at all the strange signs we've got around here. Do you have any weird road signs in your community? Let me know about them belowwww.
Koreatown LA: Desserts, Desserts, & More Desserts!
One of my East Coast friends is flying to LA this summer and staying in Koreatown. Since I'm a San Diegan that sometimes heads up to LA on weekends, she asked me what to eat and where to go when visiting K-Town. Being that we've got a whole bunch of K-Entertainment fans on here, I figured it might be useful to list places for ALL of you - so if and when you're in California, you know where to visit to try some delicious food. I figured I'd start off with a card dedicated to some of my all-time favorite Koreatown desserts! Bingsu @ Cafe Heyri 755 S Hobart Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90005 There's plenty of places to get Korean-style shaved ice in Koreatown, but none of them have the variety of Cafe Heyri. There's traditional red bean (pat) bingsu, melon, green tea, coffee, chocolate, and - my personal favorite - seasonal fruit (pictured above)! Macaron Ice Cream @ HAUS by Coffee Hunter 3826 W 6th St. Los Angeles, CA 90020 A growing trend in dessert cafes is the ice cream macaron - an ice cream sandwich made by layering ice cream between two very big macaron shells. Not only is HAUS' version my absolute favorite, but if you're a K-Pop fan, this cafe's got massive flat-screen TVs that play all your favorite music videos while you eat! Bungeoppang @ Okrumong 3801 W 6th St. Los Angeles, CA 90020 Not only is Okrumong famous for its incredible take on traditional patbingsu, but it's also one of the few places in Koreatown where you can get a basket fresh bungeoppang - fish-shaped waffle-like breads filled with red bean - to share with friends! Animal Donuts @ Fantastic Donuts 1101 S Vermont Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90006 You can read a little bit more about these adorable donuts here, but Fantastic Donuts has become pretty Instagram popular for their cute animal and character donut designs. (However, I'd definitely also recommend their cereal-topped ones. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch one almost tastes like a churro!) Honeycomb Ice Cream @ Honeymee 3377 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 116, Los Angeles, CA 90010 I was telling my fellow So.Cal foodie @hmfong that I've never been able to check out Honeymee personally. Why? Because every time I'm in the neighborhood, there's a huge line of customers! How's that for a testament about how locals feel about this simply vanilla soft-serve topped with liquid honey and a generous REAL honeycomb on top? Mochi Ice Cream @ Mikawaya 118 Japanese Village Plaza Mall, Los Angeles, CA 90012 So I'm cheating and throwing in a Little Tokyo wild card - Mikawaya! Chances are, if you've ever had store bought mochi ice cream, it was made by the Mikawaya company. But LA is the only place where you can visit its shop and order some pretty unique mochi ice cream flavors, including plum wine, black sesame, and mint chocolate chip! So which one of these would you be down to try? Have any of you visited Koreatown and have other recommendations? Let me know in the comments below, and for more #FOODPORN, follow my brand new foodie collection #FOODPORN!

To celebrate the incredible progress of my plastic surgery journey, which you can read all about here, I decided to call a couple friends of mine to join me for donuts this morning. WHY? This time, however, I wanted to venture out to a different donut shop. One that I'd never been too. And this is what happened: Kettle Glazed! Coming from the Valley, take the 101 S. to Vine street and go East, which turns into Franklin. Just passed Argyle. If you hit Gower, you've gone too far! Turn around!
