Jeonju Traditional Hanok Village
There are over 800 traditional Korean 'hanok' houses in the village. One of the main tourist attractions of Jeonju, Hanok Maeul retains its historical charms and traditions. The traditional houses are especially well known for the beautiful architecture as the edges of the roofs are raised towards the sky. Another famous trait of traditional Korean houses is that all the houses are heated by ondol, the unique under floor heating system. In times gone by, Koreans would enjoy sitting, eating, and sleeping on the floor so it needed to remain heated, especially in the icy cold winters. Picture Credits : KTO
