The Long-Awaited End of Sea World
Thanks to the hard work of documentary makers and animal rights activists, Sea World is nearing the end of its life. Once positioned as a place to help raise and protect sea life, the sad truth has finally become mainstream. Here's why this facility is on its way out. 1. The SeaWorld brand is now tarnished. The brand represents the torture of whales for an increasing population of concerned citizens. 2. Wall Street has turned on SeaWorld. The stock is down over the last year by 45% and $1.6 billion in market cap has evaporated. 3. Consumers are turning away from SeaWorld with attendance dropping 4.3 percent over the first 6 months of 2014. 4. The internet has turned against SeaWorld. Many sites have made it their business to actively campaign against SeaWorld's mistreatment of animals. 5. SeaWorld has proven itself totally inept in dealing with 1, 2, 3 and 4.

After seeing Blackfish I am surprised Sea World has stayed open as long as it has.

I live in San Diego so Sea World was always an elementary school field trip. I think the park did a good job in getting more people interested in these animals, but they way that they treat them is heartbreaking.
