Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami is currently on exhibit at Venice's Palazzo Reale, the first time he is showing work in Italy in nearly four years. His exhibit "Arhat Cycle" is a series of self-portraits, Tokyo pop mascots, and reaction pieces reflecting Japan's devastating 2011 earthquake, all handled with Murakami's iconic and highly stylized 'superflat' design.

This would be even cooler to see in Venice--modern art in a crumbling city!
