Danish artist John Kenn Mortensen brings a whimsical world of terrifying (but quite honestly, pretty freaking cute) monsters to life via his Post-It Note illustrations. Taking cues from his major influences popular children book illustrators Maurice Sendak and Edward Gorey, Mortensen continues the tradition of adding an element 'warm and fuzzy' to the otherwise macabre. For more of his work, check out his official tumblr (http://donkenn.tumblr.com/) or his new hardcover collection of works "Sticky Monsters", released earlier this year.

These are so haunting yet cute. I can definitely see the Gory and Sendak influences. Am I the only one who things the second picture looks kind of like Cthulhu?
