The food of my childhood. Seriously. I remember weekends spent at my Granny's house where we'd Saturday morning in the supermarket getting everything we'd need for a weekend of baking, have a light lunch and the cooking madness would begin. Ingredients 140g ground almonds 140g butter, softened 140g golden caster sugar 140g self-raising flour 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract 250g raspberries 2 tbsp flaked almonds icing sugar, to serve Method 1. Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and base-line and grease a deep 20cm loose-bottomed cake tin. 2. Blitz the ground almonds, butter, sugar, flour, eggs and vanilla extract in a food processor until well combined. 3. Spread half the mix over the cake tin and smooth over the top. 4. Scatter the raspberries over, then dollop the remaining cake mixture on top and roughly spread – you might find this easier to do with your fingers. 5. Scatter with flaked almonds and bake for 50 mins until golden. 6. Cool, remove from the tin and dust with icing sugar to serve.

@spudsomma I don't get to see her half as much as I wish I could but we still have our crazy baking weekends even though I'm no longer a kid~ As for the cake, it's not only beautiful but delicious too!! give it a go :D
@maryjane01, is your grandmother British? All these recipes remind me of tea parties--and make me hungry! :)
personally I prefer the smaller cherry bakewell cakes, I need the icing on top! ^^
Flaky almonds and!
