The Giants beat the Rockies 3-2. 2. George Springer (Houston Astros) The ball was hit deep right, but Springer was there to make the diving catch. If that ball went by, it was easily extra bases. Thus, it was simply an enormous play by Springer to keep the Astros in lead. The Astros beat the Diamondbacks 6-2. 1. Carlos Perez & Erick Aybar (Los Angeles Angels) The Rangers needed one more win to clinch the division title, but the Angels were not going to give up that easily, especially because the Angels are one game behind the Astros for that last Wild Card spot. They were down 10-6 but showed once again that the game ain't over till it's over. The Angels scored five runs in the top of the ninth to turn the game around, 11-10. And, with that throw by Perez, Aybar tagged Andrus and got him out to end the game to add another win to their season as they inch closer to that Wild Card spot. Kobe is set and ready to play the final game of his NBA career in about fifteen minutes. Matt Kemp wore these batting gloves for today's game against the Phillies despite his back number being 27. Kemp became really close to Kobe when he used to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He said he admired Kobe for his confidence and said all big leaguers should be confident like Kobe. Wilmer Flores (New York Mets) What a dive from Flores! That catch helped the Mets' starting pitcher Bartolo Colon extend his consecutive scoreless innings. Unfortunately, the streak stopped at 31 but the Mets beat the Braves 7-2 and Colon collected his 14th win of the season. 3. Martin Maldonado (Milwaukee Brewers) I don't know what's up with the Pirates when they meet the Brewers and what was Cervelli doing? He isn't even that fast! Anyways, great throw by Maldonado and the Brewers beat the Pirates 6-4. The Pirates have now lost seven consecutive games against the Brewers. 2. Yangervis Solarte (San Diego Padres) I was a bit surprised when I heard the Yankees traded Solarte to the Padres. He's been doing pretty well with the Padres considering the fact he made his Major League debut last year. But yes...I love these barehand catches by third basemen. Despite Solarte's barehand and cannon to first, the Padres fell to the Rockies 4-3. 1. Charlie Blackmon (Colorado Rockies) The number one play of the day today and another one from the Rockies - Padres matchup. Charlie Blackmon simply snagged that homer from Brett Wallace who came in to pinch hit in the bottom of the ninth. Until it re-appeared... inside the umpire's pocket! I've never seen that before in my life. And the runner on first? He got safely to second and had to stay there.

So during a game between the Padres and the Rockies, Justin Upton was definitely mad about something and like most baseball players, he decided to take out his anger on his equipment, this time being his helmet. But it did not go too well as he nailed his teammate Yonder Alonso in the head with his helmet. A strong outing from Shields and an explosive Padres offense leads them to victory over the Diamondbacks, 10-3. Shields also collects his 12th win of the season. 3. Christian Yelich (Miami Marlins) Yelich makes the catch and throws a cannon to second to get Juan Lagares out at second. The 2014 Gold Glover gets another 2014 Gold Glover out with his incredible arm. Too bad the Marlins faced the hottest team in the MLB right now; the Marlins lost 4-3 to the Mets. 2. Bryce Harper (Washington Nationals) The number one candidate for the NL MVP award saves the game with runners on first and second. The ball was going in fair territory but Harper reaches out, slides and makes the catch! Harper's catch leads Washington to victory as they top the Phillies 8-7 in extras. 1. Mikie Mahtook (Tampa Bay Rays) Mahtook jumps up and makes the catch, but it doesn't stop there. Mahtook comes down and throws one to second to get Gardner out and make it into a double play. This amazing play also extended Erasmo Ramirez's no-hitter through the seventh inning (He lost the no-hitter in the top of the eighth). Ballpark Turns Into a 9-Hole Golf Course!

The San Diego Padres did not make it to the playoffs this year (no surprise). So, they had all the time in the world and decided to transform their home stadium, Petco Park, into a 9-hole golf course. The 1,002 yard course features nine par-3 holes and golfers can play $50 per round. As you can see from the picture above, the first hole starts at home plate and some of the holes are played in the stands! Here are some pictures of the golf course for y'all to enjoy! This is actually the coolest thing I've seen this week! Maybe the Padres should do this every year, because....well....they're not going to make it to the playoffs any time soon!

Padres Get Upton, Kemp, and Myers as new OF

This is an incredible haul for any GM, much less a brand new GM. But this is what AJ Preller has done in his first few months on the job as Padres GM. The Padres have long established themselves as non-players in the NL West, but you would have to say that their new found OF power trio will put them in the thick of the race. What is most amazing about all of this is that they have done this while not giving up any major assets, as well as not receiving a lot of salary. Myers is relatively cheap, Upton is 1 year from becoming a FA (so no long term commitment), and the Padres received money in order to take Kemp off of the Dodgers' hands... Talk about a bounty. But do they have enough to contend?
