French artist Invader's work spotted here in San Diego!
One of the most prominent French street artists that came out the 90s scene is Invader, who is known for his 8-bit video game style characters. He began tagging with these Space Invader-inspired characters in the late 1980s and has since brought them to cities all over the world, including London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York City, Toronto, São Paulo, and Barcelona. Every year, my hometown (San Diego, California, USA) draws in hundreds of thousands of people for the annual Comic-Con convention. Because of all the attention, the MCASD (Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego) has been able to entice street artists to stop by! I've seen mural work by Shepard Fairey and JR in the neighborhood thus far, but seeing the intermittent Invaders spread around the city are among my favorite local street art sightings!
Check them out!
