Board Books for Babies and Toddlers

Babies are going to chew on books. They have done so since the dawn of, well, books, I guess! Here are some adorable board books that are also reasonably priced, because as much as you want to treasure your child's beloved books, saving one that's been gummed to pieces just isn't appealing. Once they are past the chewing stage, almost all of these are available in hardcover or paperback, too. Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney is a beautiful story for bedtime. Repeated reading will be requested! Good Night Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann will bring out the giggles. It's virtually wordless, and your child will delight in reading the story through the illustrations. Where Is the Green Sheep by Mem Fox is a perennial favorite. The rhyming text will have your toddler asking "Where?" and delightedly pointing out the green sheep to you. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? written by Bill Martin Jr. is another simple rhyming text full of Eric Carle's gorgeous collages. A fun way to reinforce colors, too! Goodnight, Moon by Margaret Wise Brown needs little introduction. A tranquil book at the end of a toddler's busy day, it will also work its calming magic on you! Moo, Baa, La La La by Sandra Boynton was one of the favorite board books in our house. Silly rhymes and humorous illustrations will have your toddler giggling and asking for multiple re-readings. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault, with Lois Ehlert's illustrations, is a bouncing rhyme of an alphabet book that will stick in your head for days. The simple and bright illustrations will delight toddlers. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle is another perennial top 10. Carle's vibrant collages seem to jump off the page, and your toddler will giggle at the caterpillar's appetite, and wonder over the beautiful butterfly he becomes. I've also included a few videos, featuring Eric Carle reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a read along version of Moo Baa La La La. This is just the tip of the tip of the iceberg when it comes to board books, so be sure to explore your local bookstore for more!

I think the best part is they last even if they do happen to chew them! :^)
I always buy these for my little nieces and nephews!
Kids, dogs, who knows who chewed the books in our house! At school I get about 10 books a year chewed by dogs. They love the glue in the spine:)
@sanityscout I'm pretty sure some of my old books have plenty of teeth marks hahaha
They last, as long as you don't chew them, @honeysoo:)

What Are The Ridiculous Reasons Why These Kids Are Crying?
If you've ever babysat, parented, or pretty much existed within the general vicinity of a child for more than two minutes, you probably know that babies cry for the most nonsensical reasons. So do parents using Snapchat, who take that 24/7 baby-documenting that social media moms and dads are notorious for to a whole new level. They take a picture of their kid crying, they caption it with exactly WHY they're crying, share the picture, and boom. Instant hilarity. This is why people get convinced that babies and drunk adults are the same. Hey, you've got to let them teethe somehow, right? To be fair, waiting for freshly baked things to cool down is pretty much the worst. If it's a single-digit AM number, I'd be like this too. Imagine all the possibilities if you COULD though. He's not REALLY bad. Just a little misunderstood, right? Cue that 'Game Of Thrones' chant: "Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame!" It's okay. She's going to be grateful she didn't when she's older. I'd probably collapse on the floor too. The freakin' PRESIDENT! Hey, it doesn't mean he can't be upset! I feel like a LOT of little girls think they can marry their dads. I know some grown men that would cry because of this too. I appreciate how easy it is to entertain kids. "Here's a tampon." I like that he's all ready with his little fork too. Okay, but this picture actually made me want a pet lobster. Go away, brother! You're ruining the ambiance! This girl just needs to grab control of her life. AND her fork for that matter. So have you been around a little one who cried for stupid reasons? Or maybe YOU were that little one? I know my dad always reminded me of the first time he shaved off his mustache. I cried for hours because he didn't look like my dad anymore! @VIPFreak2NE1 @YumiMiyazaki @TurtleyTurtles @AlexTalley @atmi @CelinaGonzalez @iixel @humairaa @LysetteMartinez @drummergirl691 @ZoilaObregon @AnimeFan4Evr @SarahRegulski @poeticandfunny @tokyo514 @Outcastname @RachelParker @FrankilliMambo @EasternShell @supbroscene @Baoyi @VeronicaArtino @YunBao @buddyesd @HandsomeBacon
3 Korean Authors To Add To Your Reading List
I recently made a video about Haruki Murakami, and a few of oyu asked about some Korean authors you might like. Here are 3 and a half suggestions First is Kyungsook Shin, who I haven't read yet. She wronte "Please Look After Mom" which was a huge success internationally. She has had some scandals surrounding her though, because she plagarized a bit of her work from other authors... Now onto the authors I HAVE read! 1. Han Kang Most recently known for The Vegetarian, she writes in a creepy but realistic style. Everything that happens is believeable which makes it so much scarier. I'm about to read her historical fiction piece, Human Acts! 2. Chang Rae Lee I read On Such A Full Sea sometime last year and really enjoyed it. It takes place in a distopian society and is a really interesting look into how we interact with people around us! 3. Young Ha Kim I adore this author and if you're going to read anything on this list make sure you read Black Flower. It is about the true history of hundreds to thousands of Koreans being brought over to Mexico to essentially be slaves on plantations. Its a part of history I never knew about, and Young Ha Kim explains it in a really fascinating way. Have you read any of these authors?! Here are links to the books if you're interested in picking any of them up^^ Young Ha Kim BLACK FLOWER: http://amzn.to/2mltxHU I Have The Right To Destroy Myself: http://amzn.to/2m1fyGG Han Kang The Vegetarian: http://amzn.to/2lLKvOn Chang Rae Lee On Such A Full Sea: http://amzn.to/2m1jEyQ Kyung Sook Shin Please Look After Mom: http://amzn.to/2m1uXqs
Raising Sharp Readers
Here's an excellent article by Colby and Aliana Sharp, about how they are raising their three (soon to be four) children as readers. Colby is a founding member of The Nerdy Book Club, and I've followed his blog for years, but this insight into how he and his wife foster a love of reading at home provides great tips to share with parents. I've always believed surrounding children with books makes it inevitable that they will explore them, even if they can't read them yet. Corralling them on a single bookcase means books are easier to overlook. Remember, books are competing in most houses for attention. Leave them everywhere--they're not clutter, they're decor:) Be a reader yourself. One of my friends, an avid reader and book reviewer, remembers her mother stirring a pot with a book in her hand. Dinner was often overcooked, but reading was established as something very important! For some of us, local bookstores are a thing of the past, but the internet can allow you to connect your child with authors, keep up to date on new releases, and yes, seek out those elusive author visits, even if you have to drive a bit. Other tips that Colby and Aliana share include giving books as gifts (that's all I send my nieces and nephews. Scour the end of the year best book lists if you're not familiar with new children's books, or give classics that you enjoyed.) Also, frequent visits to the library to ensure you have a great selection--our library allows unlimited checkouts, and I love seeing a child carrying a large sack of books out the door. While you're at the library, be sure to explore all there is on offer--let your children pick out CDs or videos, play with puzzles or toys, etc. Our library has an outdoor space connected to the children's library. Believe me, creating positive memories about the library don't just have to involve books, but they will get kids back in the door when they're older! There are several other interesting tips in this article, so be sure to read it in its entirety, then share with parents with young ones.
MSBI vs Power BI Tools
MSBI & Power BI are both popular services in the Business Intelligence World today. S o, here’s an article comparing both, MSBI vs Power BI, for your readers. that represents data so much better. Now, remember, MSBI is a product with ETL capabilities. It Extracts, Transforms & Loads Data, can organize and visualize multidimensional data, whereas, Power BI is a Data Analytics tools that offer Data modeling capabilities, including data preparation, data discovery and creating interactive dashboards. Hence, it wouldn’t be fair to compare both of these products. To get in depth knowledge on Microsoft business intelligence, enrich your skills on msbi online training professionals However, we can compare the reporting tool from both of these services. So basically, when I say MSBI, I’m going to talk about only one of the SQL Server Data Tools — SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Service) And when I say Power BI, I’m only talking about the Power BI Desktop, as it’s only fair to compare one reporting service to another. Following are the criteria on which the comparison shall take place through for MSBI vs Power BI: 1. Definition 2. License 3. Implementation 4. Benefits 5. Learning Aspect 6. User Experience 7. Data SSRS or SQL Server Reporting Service is a BI Service for data analysis and generating reports on Server Based Data. It was developed in 2004 by Microsoft, along with its Data Analytics(SSAS/SQL Server Analysis Service) and Data Integrating(SSIS/SQL Server Integration Service) counterparts. It is a comprehensive extensible reporting platform and includes an integrated set of processing component and programmatic interfaces. It is used to design test and deploy the report. Power BI, which is also developed by Microsoft in the year 2017, is a data analysis tool, which can be used for reporting and data analysis from the wide range of data source. Power BI desktop allows its users to create and publish reports on the fly, which the end-users can view using any browser. It is simple and user-friendly, which helps business analyst skills and empowers users to work easily on it. It is very useful for the analysis of complex and huge data-sets. It is widely used for modeling and structuring of unshaped data. Implementation: MSBI vs Power BI The biggest difference between these two systems is the way in which they are deployed. Power BI is a cloud-based software and is hosted on the vendor’s servers and accessed through a web browser, whereas, MSBI is an on-premise software is installed locally, on a company’s own computers and servers. The fact that both of these services are equally promising, has led to an ongoing discussion about the superiority and the security concerns of one over the other. In the case of Power BI, hardware failures do not result in data loss because of networked backups. Cloud computing uses remote resources, saving organizations the cost of servers and other equipment. A utility pay structure in Power BI enables users to only pay for the resources they use. However, with the rise of cloud-based services, fear comes into play. After all, you are trusting someone else to host your data, aren’t you? This fear is so widespread that many IT leaders believe that these powerful cloud services are a security nightmare. Benefits: MSBI vs Power BI Both of these services have their own benefits. While SSRS by MSBI has a better drill-down capacity Power BI, on the other side, has a plethora of rich visuals that represents data so much better. Which basically means, in MSBI, information to detailed data which is categorized by/focused in on a certain factor, is reached for effectively. But Power BI is a better Analytics tool due to its Data modeling capabilities and a strong visuals representation of data. Also, since, it was designed to improve the Self-Service capabilities of older SSRS, anybody who can visualize data can use it easily. Get more info at Msbi Online Training Hyderabad License The free version of MSBI lasts for 180 days followed by charges = $931. Power BI’s free version lasts for 60 days followed by charges = $9.99. NOTE: The pricing I’ve mentioned here are only the base price and there are other versions of these services and the prices vary for each of them. Learning Aspect Power BI is a graphical tool. So, through drag and drops, you can fulfill most of your requirements. But its background processes are hidden and you can’t understand how it processes internally. In SSRS, the developer has to do all the coding and designing of the report, therefore, the developer has a better picture of the process. User Experience Power BI has more of a graphical component as compared to SSRS. This makes the former way more efficient and easier to use, making SSRS the more manual and difficult option for analysis and generating the reports. Data Power BI can deal with structured as well as unstructured data but its data capacity is limited to 10 MB or 33,000 rows of data. SSRS deals with structured and semi-structured data and doesn’t put that much stress on the data engine, hence, you can create larger reports on it. Conclusion: MSBI vs Power BI SSRS is for your pixel perfect, operational reporting. Power BI is first and foremost an analysis tool, it allows you to visualize your data in different ways in order to allow deeper understanding of your business. Till now SSRS has a lot of presence but now Power BI has made its presence known across all domains. The choice between Power BI and SSRS would most likely be straightforward and driven by requirements. If your organization only uses paginated reports on-premises, you will decide that SSRS is a more cost-effective option. On the other side if you have the need to render interactive or analytical reports on-premises, or you already have SQL Server Enterprise Edition with Software Assurance, then Power BI Reporting Services will likely be your preferred choice.
