I don't really stray outside the big names (Marvel, DC, some Vertigo) so I might not ever have found these comics without this article and these sounds really cool!!! (descriptions are mostly from Comixology) __________Battle Chasers _____Publisher: WildStorm/Image Four brave heroes -- a stoic swordsman, a cantankerous summoner, a nine-year-old juggernaut, and an outlawed war machine -- join forces to rise against a madman whose dark reign threatens the very fabric that holds their world together. But before they have any hope of accomplishing their mission, they must overcome an even more rigorous obstacle... getting along! It's one epic adventure after another as our heroes do battle with some of the most outrageous villains ever created!! (sounds super cool, def gonna check it out) __________Y: The Last Man _____Publisher: Vertigo Yorick Brown is the only human survivor of a planet-wide plague that instantly kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome. Accompanied by a mysterious government agent, a brilliant young geneticist and his pet monkey, Ampersand, Yorick travels the world in search of his lost love and the answer to why he's the last man on earth. __________Shortcomings _____Publisher: Drawn & Quarterly Shortcomings is about Ben Tanaka, a Bay Area Japanese-American guy with serious relationship hang-ups. It's a subtle, often terrifically sad story that finds humor in the aimless depression of adult life. That may not sound as exciting as a dude in orange tights, but it's an emotional gut-punch that even Superman isn't strong enough to deliver. __________Deadly Class _____Publisher: Image Comics Welcome to the most brutal high school on Earth, where the world's top crime families send the next generation of assassins to be trained. Murder is an art. Killing is a craft. At King's Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts, the dagger in your back isn't always metaphorical, nor is your fellow classmates' poison. __________Sex Criminals _____Publisher: Image Comics Suzie's a normal girl with an extraordinary ability: when she has sex, she stops time. One night she meets John... who has the same gift. And so they do what any other sex-having, time-stopping, couple would do: they rob banks. __________Fatale _____Publisher: Image Comics A reporter in 2012 stumbles on a secret that leads him down the darkest path imaginable to a seductive woman who's been on the run since 1935, a mobster who may be an immortal demon monster, and the stories of all the doomed men who've been caught in their decades-long struggle. FATALE blends noir and horror to tell a riveting epic unlike anything you've seen before. __________Black Hole _____Publisher: Kitchen Sink Press/Fantagraphics Set in the suburbs of Seattle during the mid-1970s, the comics follow a group of mostly middle class teenagers who, over the summer, contract a mysterious sexually transmitted disease known as "the Bug" or "the teen plague," which causes them to develop bizarre unique physical mutations, turning them into social outcasts. __________Kabuki _____Publisher: Caliber Press/Image Comics/Icon Comics In a story that spans Japan's history and future, and alludes to the haunting traditions of the Japanese Ghost story, Kabuki: Circle of Blood touches on the interdependence between organized crime and politics in Japan. __________King City _____Publisher: Tokyopop/Image Comics Joe is a young man with no home, no purpose, and almost no friends...though he does have a very special cat. With a simple injection, Joe's cat can be anything: a weapon, a tool, or even a cuddly companion. But what-if anything-can transform Joe? Whatever it is, it can probably be found in King City, an outrageous semi-futuristic city full of spy gangs, alien porn, and reasonably priced diners. __________Rat Queens _____Publisher: Image Comics Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they're in the business of killing all gods' creatures for profit. It's also a darkly comedic fantasy series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Hobbit Thief. This modern spin on an old school genre is a violent monster-killing epic that is like Buffy meets Tank Girl in a Lord of the Rings world on crack! (really really really wanna read this one!)
Deadly class sounds perfect for all the HP fans who thought they belonged in Slytherin
Black Hole is really good! I love offbeat graphic novels like that.

If someone makes Deadly Class a movir I will kiss them.
Shortcomings sounds a little dark, but also kind of awesome.
