I know, I know. My last card talked about variation and now I'm talking about consistency. Fitness is built gradually over a long period of time. Too many runners (myself included!) let themselves to fall out of shape throughout the year, and as a result they spend most of each year just trying to get back where they were! A little time off isn't a bad thing, and I'm certainly not saying you need to train all year-round. Instead, continue to do a little running or alternative training most days. I understand (or maybe I don't since I live in LA...) that weather can have a big impact on training. Don't let winter beat you! Do what you can to get even a short run in at least 4 times a week to keep yourself in the game.
