The whole garden covers an impressive 326 acres, and has more than 50,000 different species of plants Kew Garden also has some famous buildings such as the Pagoda, the Temperate House and the Palm House. Grow Your Own Avocado Tree From Seed
Planting your own avocado tree is a lot easier than you think. You don't need a lot of materials, space, or time. This project is great for people of all ages and can grow from your outdoor garden or inside your home. Here's how to get started: Directions: 1. Take a ripe avocado and cut it into 2 halves. Remove the seed from the center, rinse off with fresh water, and make sure there is no fruit on it. Let the seed dry completely. 2. Push 3-4 toothpicks inside the seed from all sides towards the middle. Place in a full glass of water so the pointy end of the seed faces upward, while the round part is in the water by an inch. 3. Keep the glass in a semi warm climate controlled place (away from direct sunlight). Leave for 4-6 weeks and check regularly to see if additional water needs to be added. Note: The seed will sprout a stem and roots. Once you see the stem is 6 inches long, cut it down to 3 inches. The stem will continue to grow and you will start to notice some leaves. 4. Take out the seed from the glass and move it to a large pot 3 ft. wide and 3 ft. deep. Add some rich fertile soil and compost to the pot and plant the seed. Note: The root of the seed should be pushed inside the soil about 1-3 inches, while the top half of the seed should remain outside the pot. 5. Place the pot where it can get good sunlight, water, and air. The soil should remain moist, but not completely saturated. Note: It's helpful to use a pot with good drainage. Pinch the top leaves of the plant every time the stem length increases by 6 inches to help the growth of the plant. *It's beneficial to start planting in the Spring. Also, if you don't want to plant your avocado tree in the garden, make sure to take your plant outside on a daily basis for sunlight and fresh air. It will take about 7=15 years for the tree to yield fruit, so be patient!
How to Lay A Fake Grass Turf on Your Lawn?
Fake grass is a form of turf that is composed of synthetic fibers which are creatively designed, so as to make them appear like a natural grass lawn. With this type of turf, your lawn would always look green without any need for you to drain a lot of water to make grass grow well. Here are the steps to lay an artificial grass lawn. Manage the materials First, you have to consider which materials you would have to lay on your turf. These would comprise of: 1. Accessories like glue and tape 2. A Stanley knife 3. A turf cutter and 4. A geotextile weed killer Evaluate the dimensions Next, you have to assess the length, width, and height of the space that would be filled by fake grass. Make sure that the space you want to work on is clear. Get rid of the existing surface You can do it manually, in case it is a comparatively small space and has artificial grass. Use a turf cutter for bigger areas. But you must take care not to build the base over the topsoil. Compact the ground Use a roller or vibrating plate for compact settlement of the ground. You can generally hire these at low costs from equipment hire agencies. Prevent weed growth After you compact the base, use a weed killer membrane over the space that you have to cover with fake grass. It will reduce the risks of weed growth through grass, as well as permit drainage that is essential. Lay the stone/sand base Lay at least 40 mm of compact pieces of stone or sand. In case of too dry sand, add a small amount of wet sand. Use your roller or vibrating plate for compacting. Put down the grass edging If you want to use some type of edging, such as timber, put it down now. Make sure that the edging does not go over the final line of grass, to let the water runoff your fake grass turf. Roll the grass out Roll the fake grass turf out with care, ensuring that the weed killer membrane is not disturbed. Otherwise, it will cause damage to the base layer’s leveling work. Keep in mind that there is a directional pile of grass, and in case of any joins all of it has to face the same direction. It is advised that you lay the grass with the pile that leans towards your main area or home, so as to make it appear more natural. Allow the turf to settle It is now recommended that you allow the artificial grass to settle for at least 3 hours, and even overnight if possible. It would prevent the creasing or wrinkling of the grass. Cut the edges and trim them Once the settling process comes to an end, cut the fake grass and trim it with the help of a sharp Stanley knife. Make sure that the grass is neatly cut around the edges. Join your grass Use superior glue and outdoor tape to make up the grass joins, following all the directions that are given on the products. Lay your tape and apply adhesive, before you pull together the edges of the grass and give some weight to the same. You can achieve this with stones, plant pots or some other heavy material. Pin it down Use landscaping pins to pin the fake grass turf and fit it in place. You have to use galvanized flat-headed nails if you use a timber frame. Brush up the grass Brush against the grass pile, so that the artificial fibers get upright. Sit back now, and relax in your fake grass lawn. So, always choose professionals for the installation and maintenance of fake grass. They will complete the installation process professionally.
