Tri Minh’s Quartet: Sounds from Hanoi blends electronica, acoustic instruments, and traditional sounds in a program of collaborative and occasionally improvised works. From what I've heard of the practice sessions (I attached a video!) the sound is absolutely hypnotizing. Definitely not something I've heard of before. On their American tour, they will be joined by special guest Van-Anh Vanessa Vo, master of the dan tranh zither. Her latest CD was selected as one of NPR’s Best 10 World Music CDs of 2013. "Like other trailblazers of his generation, Minh is using his creativity, connections and education to forge an artistic identity that is unmistakably global — yet uniquely Vietnamese — in the ever-widening spaces of Vietnam's ongoing liberalization." (Vietnam Investment Review: Timeout)
Really interesting sound, I've never heard anything like it before.
This is awesome! I love how different it is.
