Leaving Traditional Schooling: What Happens?
Logan’s story can be seen in a similar light as Jacob Barnett‘s story. Jacob was a boy who was first put in Special Ed by his school, but then pulled out standard education and now is on track to win a Nobel Prize. Logan wants us all to embrace Hackschooling. Hackschooling is choosing what you love, and getting so into it, that it becomes your route to education. Having a hacker mindset allows Logan to take advantage of opportunities to learn more, in his ways. His education is flexible, opportunistic, and keeps him happy, healthy, and growing. Hack schooling isn't just limited to home schooling, either, but can be used by anyone! Schools that embrace hack schooling can help their students connect with their interests while still learning, and that, I think, is the genius of it all. What do you think: is hack schooling the new route that schools and home schooled students need to be taking? I have to think it will. Instead of having creative and out-of-the-box-thinking people, the current style of education creates more submissive, obedient and trained graduates so the current system is always maintained. Standard education is focused less on individual growth, and more on "median" growth. With hack schooling, I think that can change!
