The Dodgers will start Hyun-Jin Ryu for Game 3 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Ryu has been out the past couple of weeks with an injury to his shoulder and there is concern that there may be rust due to his lack of recent activity. However Manager Don Mattingly isn't worried saying that this isn't the first time Ryu has missed extended time and pitched well when he came back.
"I watched him throw his pens [bullpen session] and stuff. and it's like he doesn't really miss the glove that much. And he could be out 20, 21 days, that's usually the length before he pitches again, but in the middle he's pitching or throwing and he just seems sharp," Mattingly said. "He's got such a simple motion and delivery that it seems like he's playing pitch and catch."
The big question now is who pitches Game 4. Will it be Dan Haren or will Clayton Kershaw pitch on short rest? And then Zack Greinke for Game 5 on short rest as well? The Dodgers MUST steal a game in St. Louis to bring it back to LA and I am scared out of my mind about what will happen! If the Dodgers lose here it would be a HUGE blow considering how much money ownership has spent on this team and considering how much hope the LA community has put into the team! Good luck to Ryu tomorrow!
