1. LIVER CLEANSE A healthy human liver clears 99% of bacteria and toxins during its first pass-through. However, those who are a little too fond of the hooch may be experience less positive results. There are many different types of “fixes” for such occurrences, such as drinking black coffee with no sugar on a regular basis and having plenty of garlic, but none quite as deliciously healing as a liver cleansing smoothie. The beets and carrots in this recipe will stimulate liver function, while the greens will neutralize toxins in the body. The dandelions increase bile creation, the lemon contains vitamin C while helps substances within the body to be absorbed and eliminated through urine excretion and sweat glands (sound yummy yet?), the purple cabbage aids in enzyme production and the medium chain triglyceride oil helps all of this yummy goodness to be properly absorbed by the body. For this recipe you will need: 2 beets 2 carrots 1 cup of leafy greens 1/2 cup of dandelion 1/2 of lemon 1/2 an apple 1/2 cup of purple cabbage Water 1 TBSP of medium chain triglyceride oil. Blend this concoction until it is a consistency of your choice and drink up! Store this in the fridge in an air-tight container or juice jug if you plan to have some later. 2. HOLIDAY DETOX The holidays are full of friends, family, and the best part: (we kid…! Do we?) food. That’s all well and good while you’re stuffing your face with turkey and grandma’s apple pie, but January might leave you feeling a little bloated. A holiday detox smoothie will help you get back into clean shape after all your holiday munching, and gives you some much needed vitamins and nutrients after some not-so-diet-friendly holiday meals. For this smoothie you will need: 3 cups of peeled and chopped carrots 1 whole apple, peeled and cored 2 TBSP fresh ginger 1 cup apple juice 1 cup water Blend these ingredients in a blender until liquidy and drink. This recipe contains plenty of carrots, which contain vitamin A (another friend to the liver!) which is a natural anti-oxidant; this also helps with sperm production and maintains healthy eyes. Carrots also add the sweet flavor needed to make your smoothie delicious. 3. VICTORIA SECRET SMOOTHIE Hey, if runway models are chowing down on this slimming detox smoothie maybe it’s worth a shot! While beets aren’t exactly the most delicious vegetable in the world, they sure are a healthy choice.
