In what is being build as Finland's best chance in recent history to qualify for a major tournament, the Fins hosted a new look Greece side still trying to find its self after a roller coaster 10 years. The Fins looked promising on the attack in an end-to-end and rather dicey encounter that saw a few yellow cards and an abundance of hard fouls. The Greeks went ahead early on a good strike from their young debutante Nikolaos Karelis before a second half goal from Jarkko Hurme finished off a good move from Finland. The game itself was a blow-for-blow affair with good chances at both ends and a dead even split in terms of possession. For both squads, a draw is a fair result but an unwelcome one. The draw sees Northern Ireland to the top of the table, 2 points clear with Greece 5 points off the top of a group they were favourited to win. The Fins still are in decent shape; not expected to compete, they've not taken 4 points from 6. As the qualifiers shift into their third group games later this week, it will be interested to see how both squads come off of this outstanding match.

I realized just now that's a photo of the French team and their keeper Hugo Lloris. What a fail by me.
