Welcome back to another OUAT reflections post, and gosh this episode was an interesting one! We finally meeting Elizabeth Mitchell’s Snow Queen (as yet still unnamed) and I have to say I love her character so far. Mitchell is an wonderfully talented actress, and her portrayal as the mysterious Snow Queen is no exception. I know everyone has been theorizing that she’s a villain but I can hardly think of her as evil when she seems to care so much for her niece. Speaking of, as a long time fan of the show finding out characters are related isn’t quite as shocking as you might expect, but I was still taken aback by it! I still wonder if Anna and Elsa are in some way related to the Charming family, but we’ll find out I’m sure. On a completely different note there seems to be a storm brewing between Hook and Rumpelstiltskin, which is a fight I would not want to be in the middle of! Robert and Emilie have talked in interviews about the potential strife that would be caused should Belle discover the truth about the dagger, which indicates to a lot of fans, myself included, that this will be a definite plot point. With Hook’s deduction about Rumpelstiltskin, it seems like he’ll be at the center of that hurricane whenever it hits. And of course how could I forget about Emma’s wonderful performance this episode. Her conversation with Hook was brief, but heartbreaking. Even though she found her son and her parents, everyone else she cared about has been lost to her, not just her past romances but August as well. It explains her hesitance to commit to Hook more fully, but I hope she’s able to move past that and find happiness. There’s a lot of questions to be answered, and I’m looking forward to every second of it. How will Regina save Marian’s body now that she’s preserved her heart? What connection do the Snow Queen and Rumpelstiltskin have exactly, and how does Anna play into it? Why is the Snow Queen so familiar to Emma, did they know each other? Will Snow blossom as Mayor of Storybrooke, or will she choose motherhood over her reign instead of trying to do it all? Hopefully we’ll find out the answers to some of these next week. See you all there!
