We've all gotten older, haven't we? October 24, 2006 was the Black Parade's birthday. I've been a fan of MCR since I'm Not Okay came out, but TBP will always have such a huge part of my heart because that is when I saw them perform live for the first time. Joke all you want about MCR, but they changed the face of pop culture for better or for worse. I feel so cheesy saying this, but they will always be my favorite band. MCR Broke Up 3 Years Ago Today, And I'm Still Not Over It
"The Kids From Yesterday" describes a generation of MCR fans who went through the break up of the century. Yes, we got solo albums from Frank Iero and Gerard Way. Music from Ray Toro and Mikey Way is on the horizon, but what lacks is not the presence of the members, but the presence of the band. When My Chemical Romance called it quits I was a sophomore in college. Long gone were the days of Warped tour and late night listening sessions and here to stay was work, worrying about money and the idea that the future was coming too quick enough for me to catch. Transitional periods are always difficult, no matter where you are or what you're doing. It just so happened that while most of the hardcore fans were just entering college or leaving it. My best friend from high school was visiting for the weekend and when the message went out on MCR's website, a carefully penned letter from lead singer Gerard Way, I broke down into tears. It hadn't been an easy year for me. Lots of new "adult" problems had arisen for me, just like every college kid, and I had been feeling that illusive notion that my childhood was officially over. I remember hugging my MCR poster on the wall, which I had cherished for years before. Nothing could console me. It was like I was mourning the death of everything I had known. Music has that effect on people. When the chips are down, we can always count on our favorite bands to see us through. And though most of us masked our pain in various ways: by drinking a bit too much or partying too long with our friends, it was still there. Visible in many ways. When the shuffle of an iPhone caught the first notes of The Black Parade I had to skip it, because I knew that in the middle of College green, I would be destroyed. Yes, they were a band, and now they are an idea, but they still live on in the times we hear their songs in the car and in the voices of our friends. Don't act like you weren't there too, because MCR fans are a unit, and we still feel each other's pain. Call me emo, call me a baby, but that band had a magnificent impact on my life, and despite what all the people say about growing up and getting over things...I will never get over My Chemical Romance.

Won't Be Home For Christmas / Blink 182 Rock and roll can be bitter business, but the truth is, that some people just can't get home for Christmas and others just don't want to.
