I love Greek yogurt, and I have ever since I was a little kid. For breakfast every morning, my mother would set out a small bowl of plain Greek yogurt drizzled with olive oil with some zataar (a Middle Eastern blend of oregano, sesame seeds, and other spices) heavily on top to eat with torn pieces of pita in a dish we'd call 'zeit and zaatar'. Little did I know that my mother was making our Greek yogurt from strained regular yogurt. Far before Greek yogurt was the fad diet snack du jour, it was harder to find in supermarkets.
