The 13th of May 2012 is probably the one day, above a slew of others, that I will never ever forget. It was the final day of the premier league season. Manchester City & Manchester United were locked on 86 points, with City just ahead on goal difference. City played at home to 17th place QPR who needed to win to secure themselves against relegation, unless Stoke beat or drew Bolton. Manchester United played Sunderland away, and needed to win or draw and hope City did not equal or better the result. In the 90th minute QPR were astonishingly beating City 1-2. Bolton were beating Stoke 1-2, before a 77th minue Jonathan Walters goal had that clash level on 2-2. Manchester United were being carried by Wayne Rooney's goal 1-0. A corner from City led to Balotelli missing a sitter, winning another corner that Dzeko buried in the 2nd minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2 at the Ethiad Stadium. Stoke-Bolton finished 2-2 in the 3rd minute of stoppage time at the Ethiad, which led the QPR bench to rise to its feet in celebration. Soon after, Manchester United were declared winners of their match at the Stadium of Light and were about 90 seconds from winning their 20th Premier League title. Then Aguero struck. Balotelli finds Aguero who moves slightly right to smash the euphoria of winning the title for the first time in 44 years straight into the mouths, hearts, & brains of Manchester City fans. The scenes have yet to be replicated and probably never will be. It will forever remain in the minds and hearts amongst all the reaction videos on YouTube: the 13th of May, 2012 was a day of magical football.
