Thanks to the glory that is social media, 'foodie' culture has allowed for plenty of marketing potential in the restaurant industry. When we have a good meal (or, at least, an incredibly aesthetically pleasing one), we take a picture for Instagram, we check-in on Facebook, we leave a review on Yelp. In fact, in a recent survey conducted by Compete.com, 50% of adults aged 18 - 32 years said they become aware of particular foods and restaurants via social media. Which is why, when California fast food chain In-N-Out Burger made its way to Australia this week, the results were unlike anything you would've expected in a pre-Facebook generation. Because of their viral success, In-N-Out is able to open 'pop up' shops all around the world, allowing local food porn enthusiasts just four hours to be able to try their famous burgers for themselves. Because of the limited time and the increasing concept of 'FOMO', the lines are understandably huge, and Sydney, Australia's case was no different. (Aussie food blogger Rebecca Sullivan called it "herd mentality in its most embarrassing form." I call it, "How dare you underestimate the majesty of a dope-ass hamburger!") Unfortunately, the In-N-Out pop-up only had enough ingredients to make 300 or so burgers, so employees gave out wristbands to the first 300 people in line, and then sent everyone else on their way. (Will this make them rue the day they met In-N-Out? Will this only make them try harder next time? Who knows.) But, as a Californian, this whole event had me thinking: Have you had In-N-Out before? Yummy, Healthy Breakfast: Cherry Chia Jam Overnight Oats
Have you ever seen such a gorgeous, hearty-looking parfait? I would absolutely LOVE to wake up to this. It packs in a ton of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals to get your morning off to a fabulous start. Plus, it's got that sweetness we all love, without leading to a crash later in the day – chia seeds, it turns out, help balance your blood sugar. They're also just generally super amazing for you, but that's another card. Ashley Melillo of Blissful Basil is the genius behind this super-delicious, all natural recipe (which is both gluten free AND vegan, btw). Check out her blog for more plant-based yumminess! Because this is totally a make-ahead-able recipe, I'm going to try preparing it on Sunday night, portioning it out into little jars, and enjoying throughout the week as a grab-and-go breakfast. I suggest you do the same :) Cherry Chia Jam Overnight Oats Prep Time: 10 minutes. Chill Time: Overnight. Difficulty: Easy Recipe adapted from Blissful Basil Makes 4 servings. What You'll Need For the overnight oats: 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats 1½ cups unsweetened almond milk (or nut milk of your choice) 2 tablespoons chia seeds 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons cocoa nibs (optional) chopped cherries & chopped almonds (for garnish) For the cherry chia jam: 2 cups fresh sweet cherries, pitted and de-stemmed 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup or more, to taste 3 tablespoons chia seeds To Make Cherry Chia Jam: 1. In a high-powered blender, combine the pitted, de-stemmed cherries and maple syrup. Blend for a minute or two, until the mixture is smooth. 2. Transfer to an airtight container; stir in chia seeds. Cover, and let chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. So now you've got your fruity, all-natural chia jam. On to the oats... To Make Overnight Oats: 1. Combine rolled oats, almond milk, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and cocoa nibs in an airtight container. Gently whisk ingredients together. 2. Refrigerate mixture for at least 8 hours – preferably overnight. You're all set! Now, once everything has had time to chill overnight... Assemble Your Masterpiece! What is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)?

Instead of trying to bake a cake or cookies, or dare yourself into making fudge, you could avoid a messy crisis and make your own Chocolate Dipped Strawberries. TRUST ME, IT'S EASY! You Will Need: Strawberries (washed and thoroughly dried) Candy Melts (pink and white) Chocolate chips (semi-sweet is best) Edible gold Edible glitter Edible embellishments (there's time to order from Amazon) Directions Melt the Candy Melts and chocolate (according to the package) in their own container/bowl. Dip strawberries into desired bowl and set aside. Drizzle a different color "melt" onto the dipped strawberries. Also, redip the strawberries in another "melt" at the tip and immediately dredge in edible glitter. Set these in a tray in the fridge and take out to de-chill a few moments before eating. These are fruity, gently sweetened with the chocolate and melts, and will look AMAZING with the edible embellishments!
