Bence Máté (Hungary) 2010
Bence Máté won the top Wildlife Photographer of the Year award in 2010 from BBC, for his photograph of ants in action. To capture this famous shot, he had to research the behaviors of the ants, following them through the forests of Costa Rica to find where their lines terminated, and how they would be active. He found it interesting that their behavior was complex: small ants carried big pieces and big ants often carried small pieces. His other work captures images as he envisions them before even picking up his camera: sometimes, he sees a mass of birds and then works with them until he gets the shot he pictures in his mind. See his other photos for example. All photos credited to Bence Mate: http://www.matebence.hu/
